Ellis will have to stay out of foul trouble, but if he keeps his health, he's the most talented option, and the most likely to have an excellent season.
    Huh? See JT Durley...

To Shockers fans, it is hard to pick one guy from this young talented team who will break out this season. David Kyles is my choice.

As he said for the article, a sleeper is someone who comes out and far exceeds expectations. I think we have pretty high expectation for J.T and Kyles. Ellis or Hatch would probably be the best candidates on our team.

That may be true for the Shocker fan base, but maybe not so much for those outside Shocker nation looking in. I doubt that outsiders have real high expectations for DK. GH played 16 minutes a game vs 10 for DK last year, so I think DK is probably a better sleeper candidate by your definintion.

JT is a different story. He is probably expected to be a key component, although I'm not sure any more so than Kenny Lawson at CU.

Personally, I like David Kyles and Gabe Blair as our sleepers.

Nice to have a lot of good choices for this role. Hopefully, 3 or 4 guys will prove to be sleepers.

Personally, I think Kyles would qualify a “sleeper” to the general public, especially those who follow the MVC but not WSU’s program specifically, and I would have given him strong consideration. Durley, in my judgment, should not be in this type of discussion – I think he has “outgrown it”, for want of a better phrase. If Durley has a strong season, it won’t come as a surprise to anyone.

That being said, I won’t argue about the author’s selection of Ellis although I still, for whatever reason, can’t stand his photo.

EDIT: 1972Shocker beat me to it…I agree with what he wrote.

My contention wasn't that he has Ellis as a sleeper. I can buy that. My issue is that he said that Ellis is the most talented option. I don't agree with that.

Durley is already the starter at the 5 so he isn't included in the list of guys to replace Clemente at the 4.

Is it possible that Durley could start at the 4 and Stutz at the 5? Yes, but I would say Durley is likely to stay at the 5 until EO gets here for depth purposes, if nothing else.

DK is my pick. Although if Ellis can stay healthy he could definitely be a possibility. But I'm going with DK!!!

David Kyles and Gabe Blair are my picks, although I am sure 1 or 2 of the new guys will be a surprise too. I like to watch them play a couple of exhibition games before picking my 'dark horse' of the season. Every year, the new recruits are hyped up, and some don't live up to it.

                          Ricardo del Rio,

I'm with you and pick Mr. Williams from Nevada.

I didn't consider Durley because I expect him to be excellent this year. Ellis is a mystery, but I think he's a fantastic player when healthy.

I'm sorry about the glasses... I'm working on a new picture!

Kyles is the new Warren Armstrong! He flys through the air with the greatest of ease and slams the holy crap out of the ball!
