WSU to launch new logo

I have to say, this logo did not and does not create a negative or positive reaction from me. Would I have liked to seen something a little more creative – probably – but I suspect that creativity was not a high priority.

The last attempt at a "creative" logo cost the athletic department, if memory serves, $400k.

For the money, I'll take this one for $15k.

Count me in as not liking it. I like the one we have in place now. And I liked it on center court as opposed to the mascot. Look at it like this, when the Dallas cowboys and Pittsburgh Steelers changed there logo, what did it do for them? Oh, that's right, they haven't changed!

THose are actually some pretty classic logos. Its just the teams that sported them were really bad.

They will both be wearing those logos at some point this year though.

With that said. I prefer the previous logo. The new one isnt bad they just made it look more "modern" It will grow on me im sure.

I'm not that good with photoshop and the such, but I like just a couple of small changes.

Like others have noted, this evolution on the previous logos was both the safe play and the cheap play. At first blush, I'm not exactly enamored with it, but for some reason I feel like it will grow on us all, to eventually make the previous logos look like the dated, tired designs they are.

Two things are for sure:

-This new logo is worlds better than the mess we threw down the toilet a few years ago.

-It's a positive thing that the University will finally have ONE logo, versus the athletic logo and academic logo split we've had for years.


Oh yeah, one other thing- am I the only one who thinks the the "flying W" used by the baseball team would make for a great logo for the entire school and athletic department? I've always thought this. THAT'S a classic, recognizable, individual logo.

At first impression, it looks like a step back in time. It looks like something out of the late 60's or 70's.

We needed an update for sure. Just like all new things, it'll take a little bit to get accustomed to change.

The flying "W" IMO is the most recognizable symbol associated with this university.

I'm not much a fan of the new look.

Not wild about it. I think if it is a stalk of wheat that makes up the logo it should be more subtle than that comprising the new logo. After all we are not the Wichita State stalks of wheat; we are the Wheatshockers. We're not trying to make the wheat "fierce". But it is not so bad that I wont try to like it. It will take time.
