  • Who is South Carolina Upstate?

    Via Paulie Shocknuts...http://blogs.kansas.com/shockwaves/

I guess it's good pub for recruiting in the region, gives players some news items for back home...

Great, now we are taking a page out of KU's scheduling philosophy, getting cupcakes at home.

      Your Troll-Fu is weak...

      Nice try though.

When haven't we had at least a couple of scheduled cupcakes (aka buy games)?

        The last four seasons . . .

        Florida A&M
        Centenary
        Gardner-Webb
        North Dakota
        Ark-Pine Bluff
        Maryland-Baltimore Co.
        Chicago St.
        Maryland-Eastern Shore
        Kennesaw St.
        Texas Southern
        Texas-Pan Am
        Delaware St.

That doesn't include any that were part of a tournament (that I know of). That's an average of three per season.

MD East Shore and Kennesaw were part of the Las Vegas tourney. TX Southern and TX Pan-Am were part of the Padre tourney, and Deleware St. was actually in Padre.

And don't forget the ultimate cupcake of them all. The one that started us on our way to the Sweet 16... Panhandle St in Oklahoma. I still remember their coach dressed in like jeans and a sweater yelling at his players nonstop.

Well, AG, you pretty much blew me out of the water!

            Thanks for the clarification.

But pretty much every team in a top-15 league is gong to have at least a few cupcakes from among the bottom 15-20 leagues.

No doubt about that. You must schedule a few "buy games" to fill the home slate. I'm not mad with 1-2 per year, but if you start adding 4-5 thats when the fans can complain (ie. ISU Red)

You can get away with 3-4 cup cakes if you have 2-3 good games to even things out. ISU red has all cup cakes with no upper tier games to even things out.

This year's schedule is one of the strongest in a few years. We now know that we probably get Pitt for the first game in KC. While parts of the scheduling are legacies left from the last regime, Marshall has done a great job tying up the loose ends.

Are we getting the third game of the LSU series this year? Anyone heard where it will be?

I have heard that the LSU game will not happen this year for sure. I do not know if they still plan on eventually playing the game or not.

Dallas is easily drivable, but Houston would be good too.

Either one are good homecomings for our Texas players and more visibility to future Texas recruits.

I agree. Dallas would just give me a reason to go see an old friend as well.
