Everyone is seeming to forget that Eric Sexton wants to play a game there...so it's gonna happen. And they do have to play a game there in order to qualify for the NCAA tourney. That's why they're gonna play there.

Season tickets will probably translate over to IBA somehow. And then there will be about 5000 more tickets available to non-season ticket holders. Has anyone thought of that as a possibility?

No, that would require logic... and many Shocker fans come up short in that department.

Are you speaking of first-order predicate logic? Don't forget what Kurt Gödel taught us!!
Some posts are not visible to me. :peaceful:
Don't worry too much about it. Just do all you can do and let the rough end drag.

Perhaps some time in the not too distant future we will once again be scheduling one or more out of state schools a year which could fill the larger arena.

Just might be kinda a good idea to have have gotten some real game experience there beforehand.

I would love to have a game once a year at the new arena...Giving up the home court advantage (somewhat) to Creighton does bother me but they are a logical choice...especially after last years' heartbreak in St Louis....It would be an exciting event...so that game has my vote

Not mine. I want Creighton in CKA. I want to squash them in front of the fans that are always there. I want CU where they don't want to be. I want -- well, I just want.

After more thought, I don’t want to play downtown. Who would want to attend a game, have a pre-game meal (adult beverage) or post-game meal/snack (another adult beverage) in the downtown/Old Town area… BORING! It would compare favorably to attending a game at the KC Sprint Center and spending time before or after in the Power and Light District… BORING X 2.

                :innocent:

                P.S. Wake-up Wichita!

Are those of us who just want to attend a game without all the pre and post-game fanfare asleep? Or perhaps we're just different.

I already have two hours of pre and post-game activity - the drive to get there and back.

Personally, I would only want a game in IBA if it's going to be a sure sellout with the extra fans mostly for WSU (so, no KU or KSU). And I want WSU graphics on the court. It needs to have as much home court feel as reasonably possible.

If we have a good season next year I think we could definitely sell the arena out. I think it would draw a lot of casual fans out who want to see basketball at the new arena. I can't get tickets to some games at CKA but me and some friends would definitely be there for the game downtown.
The mountains are calling, and I must go.

and here's WHY creighton might be a good choice....i would imagine THAT'S a game already on the schedule that could probably sell 4-5 thousand easily, especially adding in the novelty concept...first game ever.

                      i'm in.

You're right. The novelty concept will likely sell out the first game, regardless of the opponent.

So, in my mind, the logical choice would be the bracketbusters opponent, as someone earlier stated.

correction to the bolded part. If you have the game at the downtown arena then you are for sure to get those fans that have paid top dollar for the closest seat available to ACTUALLY show up.

as far as who WSU schedules there I dont really care. Knowing how things work in wichita they will schedule a double header with the mens and womens team vs Ft Hays State

It is very apparent that you are correct.

One game a year is not going to hurt anything. So they'll get to play in front of 5000 more fans possibly. Is that a bad thing? Many big time programs play one or two neutral site games a year besides tourneys. This is all that a game at IBA would be.
