  • Question for Doc

Hey Doc-quick question. Kind of off topic-sorry gang.

You seem to be close to the action.

Why doesn't WSU put some of the great games on discs and sell them to make some money for the athletic department?

I would imagine that there is some NCAA rule that causes problems. But I think people would pay top dollar to know the dollars would help the program. Heck, people pay $19 for a disc. I'd pay $30-$40 dollars for the Battle of New Orleans.

    Or the CWS championship game.
    Or beating KU in football
    Or the Iowa basketball game.
    Or the Sweet Sixteen run.
    Or an X-man documentary.
    Or a Gene documentary.
    Or a Stallworth documentary.

    Just wondering.

The battle of New Orleans would be awesome as well....but I think that has already been done if I am correct
The mountains are calling, and I must go.

My guess is it is a copyright issue. I think the NCAA holds the rights to all NCAA games.

The NCAA has a web site where you can order video of games. There are 6 WSU games available (3 baseball, 3 basketball).

There are 17 other videos that can be pre-ordered (I am assuming the NCAA won't master these video until there is enough pre-order demand to make it financially sound). These videos include:

      2004 V-Ball vs Nebraska
      1996 WSU vs FSU (baseball)
      1991 WSU vs LSU (baseball)
      1989 WSU vs Texas (Baseball)
      1981 WSU vs KU (Basketball)
      1965 WSU vs UCLA Basketball
      1964 WSU vs KU

I think the 1964 game vs. KU is a misprint on their part. We played KSU in the regional finals in Wichita, not KU. I may have to scrounge some pennies and buy that game. Stallworth played in that game. Would love to see him in action.

Wiilie Murrell, Roger Sutner and local veterinairian Max Moss played on that final four team for KSU. Maybe KSU has a tape of that game.

Other schools do this - KState is one of those. It's not a problem for them but it is for us? I think people in the department are "too busy" to help us fans with these things.

I just wish they would take two minutes and give us the real reason they are stonewalling us on this request. I have copies on DVD of several games from the olden days but I still wish the department would make them available.

I have the 2006 1st, 2nd and 3rd round games on tape and have been saying for several years I need to get them on DVD. If anyone is interested let me know!
