  • Marshall on Sports Daily

I caught the last half of Marshall on Sports Daily this morning. He sounded very enthusiastic about the group of guys he has and excited for the season to start. A few tidbits he hit on he said Toure was up to 190 pounds and has been hitting the weights hard. Decent discussion about Stutz. He said he is progressing almost exactly where he envisioned him being. Said he is hitting the weights with Rosenboom 3 times a day several days a week.

Finished by talking about the auction and golf tournament this weekend. Said the tournament is sold out with 36 teams. He said you would never know we were in a down economy with the people stepping up for the tournament and the items donated for the auction.

Did anyone else catch the firt part of the discussion? I am not sure how much I missed since he was already talking when I turned it on.

Shot selection is his biggest thing. Luckily he and Clevin should have a little more help from outside this year.

Agreed. Plus, if he gets stronger and can attack the basket more effectively because of it he a) won't need to get as much of his scoring from the outside jumper and b) should get better looks if players have to give room respecting the drive.

Said he like the versatility of this roster, especially the guards and wings where he feels like he will have a lot of different options and combinations that he can play depending on the circumstances.

Said Garrett was lifting 3 times a day and is showing some improvement. Improvement is incremental and steady, but he still believes Garrett will develop into a strong contributor sometime in the future.

I think he was very pleased with the quality of the two late signees, Richardson and Williams.

Strong contributor or cornerstone to build a program around?

Whenever he talks about Garrett, GM sounds like he's hedging a bit....in other words, "perhaps better next year", rather than "next year should be his breakout year", like we'd all like to hear.

Why would he say that and puts more pressure on the kid than he needs

i ran into toure', clevin, jt, and gabe last night at the shadow.. i was impressed, not only in how toure' and jt look to have put on a little more muscle, but also how they portray the image of the program in public. clevin likes to try and mack the ladies a little too hard (relax and let them come to you), but otherwise, seems to be a great group of kids.
