If we were in a host year for Bracketbusters then it would work perfect as the opening game for the arena.

Does BB make exceptions to the rotating home/road?

Otherwise, if you dont have a conference game in the arena, you're talking about nearly another year before they play a game there. Just dont think that is going to happen. Its just too new and flashy not to try.

Somehow, I believe that a App State or Cleveland State game isn't going to be the blockbuster matchup to open the arena.

        rofl..

We definitely aren't gonna be wasting a Valley game there. No way, no how.

And secondly, 'as good as KSU'... huh? Kitten State is on the bottom end of the totem pole as far as I'm concerned. They make 1 NCAA tourney in 13 years, win one game in it, all because of one guy (Beasley) and now they're 'good'? lol.. Let's not set our sights so low for looking for a possible opponent please.
        Deuces Valley.
        ... No really, deuces.

Sorry mulligan, but your post is just WRONG. If W.S.U. ever works a deal like this, they might as well erect a giant sign stating, WE HAVE A SECOND RATE BASKETBALL PROGRAM.

The home town Wichita State University WheatShockers should never take a back seat to anyone in their home town. Especially not the Chickenhawks or the Mildcats.

We should all give up on the Idea of KU coming to town. But not K-State, I think that K-State might actually turn their brain on and figure out that the reason they haven't been getting into the big dance is because of a low SOS. They can improve that just by playing WSU. I hope in IBA.

Why not open IBA with a throwback exhibition, something like Friends or Newman vs. Wichita State? Something meaningless, but fun, so a good time can be had by all....

Schedule and promote it right, the place would be filled. After all, it's not like this town is just bursting with other golden entertainment opportunities...

How about an old Valley Foe?

                        Louisville
                        Memphis St.
                        Cincinnati
                        Tulsa

Any chance the JUCO tournament will be there next year?

Definitely like the schools. Perhaps a tournament with WSU, Tulsa, and 2 of the remaining 3.

Let's not compare K-State to KU. Having KU play the Shox at Intrust would be an event for the city for both KU and Shocker fans. K-State playing the Shox at Intrust would be a no-win scenario for Wichita State. We'd be expected to win against a team that is about as exciting as playing a Colorado or Iowa State. A big let down on the excitement meter... The Shox have nothing to prove to those pie munchers.

However, a tournament called the "Valley of the Death" with the aforementioned schools in VanceDave56's post would be great!

Now these are good ideas. vance suggests some good old Valley schools. Veritas suggests a name like the old Valley of Death. Something like this might just be enough to get me to step foot into the UN-Trust Bank Arena. :good:
