  • MVC tourney question

Since this is a slow time of year for the basketball forum, I have a trivial question. At the MVC tourney, why do they choose blue for the color of the court? Why not alternate the color of the floor each year using each teams colors or pick a neutral color that no valley team wears? Or atleast go with black, it looks the best anyway? :D

    Homer: WOOHOO! Four day weekend.

My guess is that is coordinated by Savvis Center.

However, the NCAA now mandates that during its tournament, the floor be similar to every other site.

Blue paint is always on sale at K-Mart.

It is painted blue because that was St. Louis U's color when they were playing there and it was the same floor.

I believe the NCAA tourney uses black now, IIRC.

So if anything, you'll see a blue and black combo come to that court eventually. But for now, it's just gonna be that blue, because that is how it was painted before and it really isn't cheap to paint those things.

I liked the floor for the Women's final four in St Louis. I can't find any good pictures.

Red and blue are also the MVC official colors.

And - the St. Louis Blues hockey team plays there as well - probably just trying to keep the color scheme going.

I did not know that red and blue were the official MVC colors - learn something new everyday.

ABC has time to weigh in on the official MVC colors, but no time to respond to my desparate emails to him about playing in the Marshall Golf Classic.
