  • GM on KGSO?

I heard on the drive in today that GM was supposed to be on KGSO during the 7 am hour. Did any of our fine posters catch his segment and would you care to summarize his comments?

I hope someone can fill us in because all got in on was Jeffrey Parsons talking about how brillant Coach was in using Johnny Coy to answer the question of EO's signing (since you can't talk about recruits). The end result was that EO was going to play for Three Rivers next year, sign with the Shockers in November, and be here during the summer (I don't know if that was this summer or next).

That's what I love about EO's situation. We get him signed before anyone else gets much opportunity to see him play. Jucos do start playing earlier, but a few games shouldn't be enough to cause problems.

Gregg was Gregg. In great spirits, talked about visiting with Coach Self at the Final Four.

Chris mentioned the ESPNU game with Kenny. Gregg pointed out the things he needs to work on during summer school. He said during recruiting we see all the things they can do and then as coaches we see all the things they don't do very well.

They talked a lot about the golf tournament on May 4 and the auction the night before. Gregg thanked all the sponsors and mentioned how important the event is for the program and how it allows them to do all the things they need to do to be a top flight program.

It reminded me of how tough it is to be a coach, especially during the season. He sounded good and refreshed and upbeat.

They are still recruiting as they always do because you never know what will happen...Reggie, Creighton, Iowa, SIU etc....you just never know.

Said he appreciated what Reggie did and as a coach you want a kid that wants the ball and wants to be a difference maker.

Go to the auction if you can....it's fun and even if you don't buy anything it's more than worth the price of admission.

Missed out on the first of it so hope someone can fill in.

Talked about not seeing any Valley head coaches at Final 4 but wasn't really looking for any.

Said this is the time of year that coaches meet individually with players to go through their strengths and weaknesses and some players decide to go. Mentioned Reggie -- then said "and there may be more." Don't know if this was said off-the-cuff or if he was really trying to say something.

Said Reggie elected to go where he would have his hands on the ball more. Said Reggie knew Clevin wasn't going anywhere and that KM was coming in. Reggie made his decision BEFORE watching RM in Friday's game. Coach said Reggie was a valuable player last year giving some very good minutes when needed. Caoch stressed that Reggie was NOT forced out.

Talked about Gabe being a pretty good player and that he was glad to have him on the team rather than playing against him. Gabe is 6'8", 235 lbs. He will play forward or as an emergency 5 backup to Garret and JT.

Then lastly mentioned the golf tournament and auction.

Hope someone caught the first part of the interview.

They talked about the trip to the Final Four. The coaches hotel was in Windsor Canada. Not convenient at all...you could tell he was annoyed at that.

Why in the world would someone set that up?

Not a big fan of North Carolina.

Otherwise not too much to report....he is very pleased with the off season workouts. It is a FAR departure from whence he arrived roughly 2 years previous (my comment, not Gregg's).

Need a maker with the open scholly.

Canada is almost exactly 1 mile away from Ford Field, due South. According to the one guy I know from Detroit, Windsor is normally quite a bit nicer.

Detroit skyline to the right and Windsor to the left of the Detroit River.

I have never been so I dont know how the border workings are. I would imagine it would be a pain in the ass though
