Kenny has plenty of room for improvement. Some things haven't changed since I saw him 2 or 3 times earlier this season.

He still dribbles the ball too high. He needs to work on his jumper and his free throws.

He needs to work on defensive intensity. He goes for a lot of steals and allows his physical ability to carry him. It works against most high school players...he will have to change that.

Now for the positives:

He's the fastest player I've ever seen coming in to WSU.

He is an OUTSTANDING leaper.

His freakishly long arms remind me of Paul Pressey...only longer.

His passes are more crisp and sharp than anyone on our team, by a LOOOOONG ways.

He takes it to the hole like NO ONE you have seen and he can finish, big time.

Every single player on our team next year will shoot a better percentage, not (only) because of his ability to pass, but because he is going to draw attention and people will have to help and everyone else is going to have slightly easier shots.

I saw a lot of Toure last year. Toure was a better basketball player, but not by much. Kenny has a lot more talent, especially in his physicality. Toure is special. Kenny has much more upside if you can believe it.

I usually try to temper my expectations of incoming recruits but based upon this assessment, which I have no reason to question, this kid could have an immediate impact his freshmen year. The negatives you mention are certainly correctable given the right attitude and a strong work ethic. The positives are mostly related to this kid’s natural ability and that is a very good thing.

Do I think he will replace Hannah? Not very likely. But when I envision the following players on the floor at the same time – Murry, Kyles, KM, Ellis and either Blair or Durley – that five has the potential to cause the opposition some serious difficulty knowing the type of defensive pressure CGM likes to use.

Yea i know, there was so many times Kenny drove and kick it out to the corner for a wide open 3, which his teammate missed it. he should have had at least 10 assist.

When I posted that, Oak Hill wasn't playing that great. But they kicked it in right after that and I did become impressed. But the 1st half wasn't that impressive to me considering they are supposed to be the top dog of HS basketball.

Just watched the game. I am not prone to hyperbole and I hate overhyping recruits, but I don't remember a player with that combination of athleticism, handles, and penetration ability in a Shocker uniform. Clearly he needs to improve some decision-making, sloppiness, and his outside shooting (I think he was 0-fer outside layups and dunks, though he didn't have a ton of attempts) but there is some amazing upside potential to this kid. He can really, really penetrate and find the open man or finish and he will be amazing in transition. Wow.

When I posted that, Oak Hill wasn't playing that great. But they kicked it in right after that and I did become impressed. But the 1st half wasn't that impressive to me considering they are supposed to be the top dog of HS basketball.

I was giving you a hard time more than anything. Pinewood looked the better team early to me as well but they had NO depth at all and Oak Hill was LOADED and could play harder the entire game.

As I have had a chance to think about it a bit, I think part of the issue with Kenny's lack of consistent hard play is that he never sits. If you don't get a break once in a while, you are going to have to pace yourself.

That is not something that will be a concern for him in the immediate future.

Some mo.

1. He has a very nice hesitation move.

2. He is a turnover machine.

3. He has a lot of playground in him.

4. He tries too many NBA passes - sexy passes in a tight window.

5. Nevertheless, as I said in an earlier post, he will be special.

6. His length allows him to get his hands on a lot of balls.

7. I love his skinny legs. As my good friend, Ron M., used to say, "Beware of the skinny legs." He said it because players with skinny legs are usually big jumpers.

8. He will greatly enhance our ability to dribble penetrate. Unlike Randy Burns, he will know what to do with the ball, when he is in the paint.

9. UNI defenders will struggle with him.

What I heard them say is that he should be a high jumper for the track team.
