  • Dismantling Iowa

Talk about a program in virtual free-fall (and they were already pretty low).

Two years ago their leading scorer left after Lickliter was hired.

Last year leading scorer Tony Freeman transferred to SIU.

Now their top two guards - both sophomores and double-digit scorers - appear likely to transfer to MVC schools: Jake Kelly to Indiana St. and Jeff Peterson to Missouri St.

One other player is leaving and another is also likely.

    A 2010 commit decommitted.

In two years, the MVC may have three former Hawkeyes playing against one another.

Any chance the CBE could replace them with a better team? We may only end up playing one good team in that tournament next year.

That team is heading south in a hurry. On the upside the valley is gaining a lot of talent.

Maybe. I noticed that none of them are ending up at other BCS schools, and at at least for now, they're all going to second division teams in the Valley.

Hope your right as we all benefit from better teams in the Valley.

... on a positive note, it might give us a better chance at a win in KC. Texas has the #2 incoming recruiting class and Pitt isn't far behind with a top #15 class. Yikes!

The players rumored to be heading to InSU and MSU are either from those towns (Springfield) or now have family there (Terre Haute). When Freeman transferred to SIU, they were a top-tier team.

The Chanse Creekmore decommit could be of an even bigger impact to a Valley team than the transfers of the existing players.

                How so? Four year player?

It will be interesting to see what happens since most of the schools (MVC) do not have scholarships to offer right now.

If that is the case, how could they (any school) bring him on board?

Call up the NCAA. That has to be a recruiting violation somehow. :D

Billie G is a good coach and recruiter -- he just isn't a good a$$ kisser. Apparently there were things Kentucky wanted him to do that he did not do. I can only surmise that had to do with sucking up to the Alumni.

Billie's personality just didn't fit in with the bluebloods. From what I could tell, Billie is very much a down to earth type person.
