    Stanford, cont'd

    A couple more thoughts, Doc.

    1. Big-time bulletin board material, and in this wired age I'd be surprised and disappointed if the Shocks aren't already aware of it. Maybe Boise State was impressed by visiting "The Farm" at Stanford, which is indeed a lovely campus; maybe they also had trouble finding energy in a nearly empty gym. I'm confident that Monday night, the Shocks will not be unduly impressed by Stanford; and they should have energy to burn, refueled by a loud and ardent crowd.

    2. As we're continually reminded by events in Washington, the elites -- even newly minted members like Stanford freshmen -- can't help looking down on the rest of us; it's just a question of whether they're experienced or smooth enough to hide it. Some of these clowns aren't. But that arrogance could easily translate into overconfidence, and if Stanford doesn't show up motivated and ready to play, they may be in for a nasty and well-deserved surprise.

      1) I think the open gym statement had more to do with them feeling like they played a little looser without a crowd. I don't think that was a dig at Boise St.

      2) At the 4:11 mark they are asked what they feel about playing Wichita St and Jeremy Green just laughs while the other dude could hardly keep a straight face. We need to put these guys in their place!

      A couple of thoughts.....

1)is gostanford.com really the athletic web site? If so....damn.

2)I wonder if Jeremy Green ever played against Toure? Jeremy (laughing #5) is a freshman from Austin TX and had to be one of the better players in the state.

The entire student body giggling at him when introduced (instead of the who cares) would be appropriate.

I have some points in general I think will take to another thread.
They do have a wonderful looking website. I wish goshockers was along the same format. ksuports.com, kuathletics.com, gostanford, they all look along the same format. Why don't we follow suit?

Also, wichita.edu looks cheesy as well. It looks second rate. Someone at WSU needs to get a clue.

We're (the university) is currently flunking Web Marketing 101, however I do like the television and radio spots... they're first class.

I've shared this opinion for a long time as well. The goshockers.com website isn't terrible, but the wichita.edu site sure is. Heck, the url title doesn't even have the second half of the school's name. No wonder national media members oftentimes mistakenly call us "Wichita", instead of "Wichita State". We always like to tout our colleges of business and engineering, but if you visited either of their respected sub-pages as an uninformed outsider, you'd be completely underwhelmed. They look like they were designed 10 years ago by some random freshman as a 101 website design project.

I totally disagree with the whole "second rate, commuter school" image of WSU, but all of the above just plays into that stereotype.

              Thank Intake Studio.

There's a good chance that any top notch TV spot, or game intro stuff you see was authored by that firm, NOT WSU.

Methinks the WSU admin needs to expand their relationship with Intake, and stop trying to whip up second rate trash in-house.

I believe our Head Athletic Administrator has said as much, IIRC.

The Alums of Wichita State understand the university and what it has to offer. However, when you have a second rate looking web page representing the university (and we all know the saying of first impressions), I just can't help but think how many people go to the web page, laugh and move on.

It does look like it was made by a freshman in web design 101.

                        Tickets

I picked up my tickets after lunch at about 1:45. The guy at the window said that they had sold about 8000 and that there was "no way" it would sell out yet this afternoon/evening.

I am concerned that with hail in the forecast, lots of people with nice cars will choose to stay at home.

Over on ESPN streak for the cash, the consensus is that Stanford will win in a land slide. Its 96% for stanford, and 4% for WSU.

The game talk is also all stanford.
