Although I don't mind seeing KU lose, I never understand us Shocker fans who poke fun at them. Not one of us would mind being in KU's pants right now, ranked in the Top 25, heading to the NCAA's (again).
If our program was anywhere near their level, then sure, we have room to poke fun, but it just seems wrong to poke fun at a program who has that much tradition, success and multiple championships.
Now, before anyone gets on my case calling me a closet KU Fan, a KU apologists, I am making a pre-emptive HELLZ NO I'M NOT!
It wouldn't be any different if KU fans started making fun at our baseball program on such Regional Tournament collapses at Arkansas and OU in recent memory. What the hell have they ever done in baseball.
Actually it is very very analagous to you ragging on the Shox, then declaring pre-emptively that you are a Shocker fan.
"I not sure that I've ever been around a more competitive player or young man than Fred VanVleet. I like to win more than 99.9% of the people in this world, but he may top me." -- Gregg Marshall 12/23/13 :peaceful:
--------------------------------------- Remember when Nancy Pelosi said about Obamacare: "We have to pass it, to find out what's in it".
A physician called into a radio show and said: "That's the definition of a stool sample."
I started following KU Bball about the same time I started following WSU ball. Then I went to WSU and WSU became my favorite team.
I'm not really into hating on teams, especially teams in Kansas. I was big on hating on Roy Williams. I don't find the same thing with Self. He seems like a good guy and seems like a coach who would keep KU ahead of WSU by building KU instead of by trying to drag WSU down.
It still doesn't bother me to see KU get beat. When KU gets beat by another "B" school, they better hope Brown doesn't get an automatic invite.
KU should do OK in the NCAA's. They look like a S16 team. They can probably use the time off to rest up and heal up a bit. That's probably more important to them right now than their seeding.
Self did a great job with a team that lost 5 players to the NBA. Probably one of the greatest jobs ever with a team that had to replace 5 NBA picks in the same year.
No matter how much you may dislike another program, sometimes you have to recognize and respect accomplishment. I'm willing to give Self credit for what he's done this year.
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades. We like to cut down nets and get sized for championship rings.
This is scary -- I keep finding myself agreeing with KC and Fever.
In the first place, Lunardi isn't on the tournament committee and doesn't have anything to do with NCAA seedings. But in any case, why does anyone here care where KU is seeded? How does that affect the Shockers?
Now, if the NCAA goes out of its way to avoid pairing them with a "B" team, that's a different story -- that would be a break. But it still has nothing to do with the Shockers. As for Bill Self, I have to agree with those who think he's a solid, upright guy and an outstanding coach. Besides, how can you hate a guy who did what St. Roy Williams couldn't?
Kansas Senate tries to keep KU from any more killer B’s
TOPEKA | If the Kansas Senate has its way, the Kansas men’s basketball team will never suffer another postseason loss to a team that begins with the letter “B.”
