I would like to hear all your opinions about the future of Shocker Basketball.

I believe Coach already has some players that will take us to another level, like Gabe Blair and Johnny Coy, along with the new recruits. How can this not work?

I will be very surprised if we are not in the top 3 of preseason picks.

Durley should be a monster player, Torre & Clevin with Ellis and Hawkins, plus new comers Manigault and Hamilton I would think is awesome. What do you think?

I will be very surprised if we are in the top 3 when the preseason picks come out. However, I'll be shocked if we don't finish there. As far as the future goes, here's what I have at the moment...

        SR Class
Clevin Hannah - He's not the ideal PG but he's solid and effective most of the time. We know we have a pretty effective outside shooter and a guy how can lead us on the court. I expect some improvement from him going into his SR year.

AJ Hawkins - Many are disappointed in him this year and nobody can blame them for that. He didn't live up to expectation and didn't make anyone forget PJ. We did see flashes of what he's capable of and I hope he was just shaking off the rust from his year off and will be the player we thought he could be. Not even that, but I do think he will be a little more consistent. I wouldn't be surprised if he's coming off the bench by the end of the season.

        JR Class
JT Durley - I expect him to continue to improve. Maybe not quite as drastically but I still believe he's capable of being a first teamer if he wants it enough. He's a beast inside and I expect his outside shot to come around to where he can and will be more of a threat on offense. I hope his improved defense continues. He should be hard to keep off the floor.

Aaron Ellis - Disappointing this year becuase of the continued toe problem. If he can stay healthy we'll see quite the contributor here. He showed that some this season and he can be a beast on the boards and quite the asset on D. I'd still like to see him work on putting the ball on the floor to get to the basket. He'll be a solid bench player for us.

Graham Hatch - I love this kid. His heart and fire make him impossible to keep off the court. I hope he steps up and takes more of a leadership role next year. He's really improved his game on both ends and his jump shot will fall next season. This is one of those glue guys that every team needs.

Reggie Chamberlain - Here's a guy that really needs to improve his ball handling if he wants to see much court time next year. Yes, he can shoot. But he needs to step up other aspects of his game or he'll get swallowed by the end of the bench. At this point, I'm not counting on him being a major factor.

Gabe Blair - None of us really know what to expect, but I think he's capable of putting up Ramon type numbers and that's great. If he's a bigger Ramon he'll give us quite the presence inside. And considering his offensive game is supposed to be better it will help open things up a bit more. I look forward to seeing him play. He MAY be a starter.

        SO Class
Toure' Murry - What really needs to be said? This kid is fun to watch and is a hell of a player. His decision making needs to get a little better as he had a tendancy to force some shots early and make the occassional boneheaded pass. He makes this team go.

David Kyles - You've seen flashes and I think this kid is just waiting to break out. Once he figures out what he needs to do consistently he'll be hard to keep off the floor. He may be the best athlete we have on this team and as his confidence grows so will the fear opposing teams feel when they face the Shox. This kid COULD be explosive.

Garrett Stutz - Some got down on him but we all know a RS would have been great if we could have afforded it. I think, considering his work ethic, he's going to live in the weight room this year and put on another 20 or so pounds and be around 250-255. That alone will help him for next year as strength was his biggest issue. The kid has the skills offensively.

        FR Class
Kenny Manigault - This is a LOOOOOOOONG and athletic kid. He's quick and has some pretty good PG skills. He'll get a lot of playing time and I'm sure the TO problem will be addressed. He's still going to make mistakes but I can live with that from a FR. His shot also isn't quite as bad as many of us were led to believe. He's not going to light it up from outside, but he will get into the paint and finish or create opportunities for others. Defensively he brings A LOT to the table.

Jerome Hamilton - I love this kid. He was my favorite to watch this last summer at the WSU Camp. He's a slightly bigger and more athletic Ramon from what I saw. The kid is a beast inside and will get tons of rebounds. He plays above the rim on both ends of the court and will dunk anything and everything he can. He has a motor that won't stop and a constant smile on his face. He may RS due to depth but that will only make him more dangerous if his jump shot improves.

Johnny Coy - This is the big wing we've all wanted. He has great range and can finish in traffic. The only question will be can he guard smaller guys. I believe he can but we'll see. Offensively this guy will be dangerous at some point. Next year he'll be a valuable part of a dangerous unit.
Infinity Art Glass - Fantastic local artist and Shocker fan
        RIP Guy Always A Shocker
Carpenter Place - A blessing to many young girls/women
ICT S.O.S - Great local cause fighting against human trafficking
Wartick Insurance Agency - Saved me money with more coverage.
Save Shocker Sports - A rallying cry

Kind of blows your mind to read down that list and realize the mix of talent and weaponry at our disposal next year. Now you know why Marshall doesn't want to stop playing.

The only thing missing from that list is a pre-season All Valley player who can have a commanding presence on the floor JT or TM may become that.

Can't wait to see these guys hit the floor...

There's one huge plus starting off next year. There is a whole team full of players ready to work and get after it the way Marshall expects.

The only guys who really had that figured out this year were Clemente and Hatch. This is the first year that Marshall brings back one of his teams. Next year's team knows what to expect and what they are going to have to do.

The loss to CU on a disputed clock all and some other stuff (UMKC players stomping on the WU logo and some other perceived slights) will make next year's returning players ready for practices.

That will save 2 or 3 weeks that it took for Marshall to convince the players how hard they really have to work. There were more followers than leaders. That all changes next year.

Mannigault and Hamilton will be jaw-dropped when they see how hard WSU's players work. That's a huge difference from this year when Marshall pretty much let the public know that some guys just didn't get what was expected of them in practice. I think now they all get it and want it.

            There's some avengin' that's due.
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.

We MAY win the league next year.

We WILL win the league the year after that.

Unless the conference puts 3+ teams into the dance, Gregg Marshall has seen his last Wichita State team finish out of the top 3.

I look for Durley to become the offensive machine that we know he can be. I think in the CU game, he realized that he can pretty much score at will if he just wants to and GM is going to play on that and mold him into a force.

Murry will become our PJ and our star.

Other than that, I ain't real sure. All I know is that we got some talent, we got a coach and we got some fans, and a little success is that we need to spot weld all 3 together for long term happiness in Shocker Country!

Hello, my name is Toure' Murry. You killed my father, prepare to die.

PS - Imagine if HCGM can get the improvement he got out of Durley Freshman to Sophomore year out of the other Freshman going Sophomore next year.

                            Imagine?? Imagine??

I may be wearing very YELLOW glasses, but watching how these FR developed through the year...

Kyles and his I my blow by you for a layup, stop and pop a smooth mid-range, or jump over your head and dunk it.

Murry and his "OH, WE GOT THIS" 3 ball, and dipsy-do-steal-a-roo's.

Stutz did well til the scouting report caught up with him. But I love his step out to 21' and knock down a 3, or feed inside from high post with biggest guy on him. I mean seriously, as his 3 shot develops, who in the valley has a guy to guard Stutz and Blair at the same time? Stutz will get stronger and tougher, and while some question his facial expressions, he wants to win, and get better than anyone out there.

Chamberlain - SO - When Murry touches it outside, hits Hatch at the top of the key, who then hits Chamberlain in the corner....3!!!!

This, like everyday, is a great day to be a SHOCKER!!
