Got back from StL and just wanted to tell everyone we have a classy head coach. Several of us were at the Westin talking about the unfortunate happenings earlier in our LOSS? to cretin, when Gregg Marshall walked through and shook hands with everyone in the lounge. He stopped at our table and shook our hands and said "Thanks for coming out and supporting us....We're dissappointed, a little POed but we will carry it with us and we'll remember it next year and it will make us better...We have four new guys coming next year that are going to make us alot better." We sat around for awhile and then HCGM came back out and invited us to the back room for some food since there was so much left over since apparently the players really had no appetite after the game. None of us are BIG donors and we normally sit in some pretty inexpensive seats but to stop and spend a few moments with us and then invite us back for some food says volumes about the man. Go Shox

Gregg was at the second half of the Coffeyville/Garden City game Saturday at Koch. He was talking rather than watching ga,e. Garrett Stuts was there also, draped over two (or three, I was across the arena) rows of seats behind the Shocker" bench. GM left snd I didn't see him return. Garrett left for a while followed by four delightfully lovely girls with some vertical accomplishments and then returned for the Hutch/Barton game and sat almost still throughtout the entire game, still occupying several seats."I not sure that I've ever been around a more competitive player or young man than Fred VanVleet. I like to win more than 99.9% of the people in this world, but he may top me." -- Gregg Marshall 12/23/13 :peaceful:

Remember when Nancy Pelosi said about Obamacare:
"We have to pass it, to find out what's in it".
A physician called into a radio show and said:
"That's the definition of a stool sample."

I have always felt that WSU has never been handed anything. We have had to fight and scrap for every piece of state funding and respect. We are self-made.
Our coach is a hard working, self-made man who has not had the "advantage" of a basketball blue-blood lineage. He has had to work and scratch for every bit of success he has attained. Nothing has been handed to him. I think the Creighton "loss" was pretty hard for him to swallow but it will put a huge chip on his shoulder to have his teams work harder than they ever have before.
We Shocker fans are basektball junkies. We love the game. We have seen HOF coaches, tasted success and any time I have ever been in Leavitt/Koch the fans have been so smart in how they watch and appreciate the game.
Our coach is a basketball junkie. His family is composed of basketball junkies. They live, breathe and eat the game. I couldn't ask for anything more. I appreciate how our coach, rather than slipping into "coachspeak" provides clear and thoughtful answers giving insight into the working of the offense, defense and his strategy. I don't feel that we got that with former coaches. He does not insult our basketball intelligence.
I think we have seen that Coach Marshall is an excellent recruiter despite complications in his first years.
I think we have seen Coach Marshall is an excellent practice coach as seen in our success from January on.
I think he is an excellent game coach. We can see this in the second half of the Creighton game where, when the team started switching up defenses from zone to match-up to man Creighton got stymied. We started to click on offense when the man in the post was able to run through about three options before taking the ball to the rack.
I would not trade our coach for anyone. He embodies the city, the university, the players and I am so pumped for the next few years to watch it all develop in front of our eyes.

I think HCGM really understands how special (and I mean that in both senses of the word) WSU fans are and is truly appreciative.
I was right there when he walked into the tent on the hill behind the softball diamond and got his first real taste of our specialness. He had this look on his face that just said "Woah."
He has always done a good job of being out there and being personable. He really won my wife over at the baseball regional / super regional as he and his family sat next to her.
It is my understanding that he was the driving force behind the poster / stuff signing days the last two years. He just does a good job of being personable.
