  • Do we have a new Tulsa?

In a twisted way...I'm kind of enjoying the thought of CU being the new Tulsa on our schedule.

I'm sure the jerks in Omahell will try to play it down and say that they are way above our caliber of play even though our history is far more storied than theirs.

I get the impression that the coach's have a genuine dislike for each other which I love because I can't stand Altman either. I'm glad that we don't have a cry baby like that for a coach. Our coach get furious and challenges calls but he doesn't whine like a spoiled brat.

The fans don't seem to like each other much and I don't know about the players.

I look forward to spanking these cry babies next year...I'll be marking the date on my calendar.

sCUm fans are elitists. They are too good for us for us to be their rivals.

They cried long and hard after wer effectively sent them to the NIT with MB's three in 06. They needed a Valley commish and a drunk clock keeper to get it done last night.

    Their days are limited..
    Deuces Valley.
    ... No really, deuces.

Another thing about these events...it's certainly galvanizing the shocker faithful.

We already have the best, most devoted fan base in the conference and making it even stronger.

I'm glad that I have my season tickets because their value is going to climb over the next few years!

No one can ever replace Tulsa. There will always be a special place in the hearts of the the Shocker Faithful for Tulsa.

But we do have ourselves a new team to hate. I forsee a last second alley-oop happening next year. They deserve it.

CU should have been considered the 'new Tulsa' 15 years ago. In basketball, quite frankly and you all need to suck it up and accept it, is that they have owned us the past 15 years.

We don't win at their place and I'm betting they are 50/50 at ours. We have no success against them in the MVC tourney and last night was just another feather in Dana's hat.

Why has CU been so successful? It's because the man we all love to hate has been coaching them for so damn long. Our program is a revolving door for coaches and until we can get a coach to stay here long enough like Dana at CU, then we will continue to have to start the program all over again from scratch when we lose one. This prevents us from catching up and surpassing the Bluejays.

I love HCGM and hope that he does not do a MT and bolt for the next BCS opening after he has established WSU as another winner. If he does, then we will always be behind CU in basketball as long as Dana is there while we search for a new coach to build this program back up again.

Paper shows Stoney Brook beat Creighton 8 to 2
Creighton record is 1 and 8 worst in the valley
            wow they suck
First a Baseball fan then a Volleyball fan and then I guess I follow the basketball team.

For us younger ones, it has always been CU never Tulsa.

You hit the nail smack on the head, KC.

The history in the MVC, other than CU, is that we basically are a training ground for BB coaches. Once a coach has established himself here, the BCS offers start coming in and most of us can't blame a coach for moving on. And other than SIU (for some reason) the old school loses it's incoming recruits and has to start all over again in its rebuilding program.

Unfortunately, beyond offering a very attractive salary, good facilities, and a great fan base, there is little else WSU can do to alter the situation. The larger conferences dangle money, easy scheduling, and improved recruitment from the standpoint that perspective players will get a lot more TV, media, and post season exposure.

All reasons why the university should strongly consider taking the necessary steps to do the same. If not, we are more than likely to be forced to accept and live with a constant and repeated turn-over of our successful BB coaches and the constant, painful need to start all over again from stratch.

Although last night's finish was hard to watch, I think we got some redemption from the comments made by Charlie and Dan after the game. The accomplishments of this year's team; the potential of next year's team; and the endless enthusiasm of the fans--those comments last night and continuing during today's Bradley/UNI game were indicative of their impression of Wichita State Basketball. Charlie said today that the best crowd he's ever seen is at Wichita State. They don't need to have a big play to get into the game. More than once he has said that Wichita State fans are smart--they see the "little things" (or words to that effect). Coach Marshall is a class act and the players have demonstrated that same character this season.

I've never understood this line. How can you be an elitist when you are just a silly little mid-major Catholic school whose team plays in a rented civic center populated by big-brother UNL fans and your most established athletic tradition is your revolving door performances in the NCAA basketball tourney?

To call someone an elitist is actually a complement on some levels and makes very little sense to me when it references Creighton. To me, beating Creighton is more of a relief than any kind of exciting achievement. The fact that Wichita State doesn't wipe the floor with Valley teams in basketball like it does in baseball is embarrassing if not extremely frustrating. Everything about our athletic program from the fans, to the facilities, to the private jets, screams domination in a silly mid-major league like the MVC.

I like the fire that GG brings to the program. I think his beliefs are similar to mine in what Wichita State should be doing in the MVC. Hopefully he will punish the MVC over the next decade by reaching the potential that all of us believe WSU can reach (and I'm not talking about a cup of coffee in the NCAA's every other year...).

I respectfully disagree with you, Mr. Coldblooded. Elitist is bad and DA is bad. It is not a compliment. Modify the word to "self-elitist" and it becomes a succinct description of their attitude.

Tulsa and the SHOX had respect for each other. Creighton fans and students are worthless. Based on what I heard and watched last night their President, Athlethic Director, and Priests must really be proud of their souless people. We kick their azzes in just about every sport. Soon we will do it in ALL sports. Why don't 2 or 3 thousand of you come to each game, match, event the SHOX host when CU is here and cheer on the SHOX while they stomp on Creightons teams. No need to cheer against Creighton, just cheer on the SHOX while they out class Creightons players.
                          GO SHOX!

Creighton spelled backwards is a whole buncha sluts.

True: and no amount of complaining about it on our part will change that. Only stability in the program and sustained success will change that. It has been the history and legacy of this program since the Ralph Miller days.

Only one thing will change that - winning consistently. We all want HCGM to be successful and stay... If he doesn't your staements will be a true and certain as death and taxes...
