  • Durley

Sorry if this is in another post and I've missed it...

Durley played with the type of aggressiveness and intensity in the second half that Shocker fans haven't seen in our bigs in many a moon. Loved seeing him put the ball on the deck, get hacked for the and 1 and rebound like X.

Can he play with that intensity every time out next year? if so, he is all conference caliber.

No doubt about it. JT was a MAN last evening and frankly for most of the last third (at least) of the season.

JT, please accept my apology and thank you for the big s---burger that I have enjoyed the last few weeks. Please feel free to keep feeding me a steady diet of the same over the next 2 years.

Hear! Hear! I too am happy to be eat some humble pie as I tagged JT as a bit of a slacker. Thank you for ultimately proving me wrong!

The ragging is intense only because we know he has great potential. Imagine our prospects with JT getting 16 and 6 every game next season.

If you can somehow put a percentage on JT's growth and apply that same percentage to next year, then you have a player of the year candidate on your hands.

If he regularly plays the way he played for the last 15 minutes he's a POY candidate.

From now on, I am calling JT as Horse Durley.

I am not sure his improvement is totally attributed to maximum effort.

Teresa and I watched a replay last night. It seemed to me that Horse finally realized what he could do with his size, athleticism and skills, when combined with maximum effort. He was all man possessed. I'm talking stallion quality.

If we just had a 6-10 to 7-0 player, who could defend the post, we would have something really going on.

                He's a freaking beast.

If he didn't pick up 2 quick fouls, we own that game.

I think Durley has the tools to do this every night...he just has to want to.

The team fed off his energy and it was beautiful to watch.

Way to go Durley...great effort and congrats to you for figuring it out!

Our Shocks did show improvement with our inside game this year including #31. Next Season, add Mr. Blair and company to the fold along with a very solid group of guards and we can know that our balance of "inside-outside" will result in a 'new and improved' squad still again. Furthemore, it was a plus that Gabe and Johnny Coy have been involved in our practices and learning our System already.

JT's productioin, if you look at it in terms of points and rebounds per minute, has actually dropped. Some of that may be because he has stopped shooting (and making) so many threes.

JT's defense and conditioning improved greatly. And last night we finally saw the agressivesness he is capable of and can take over a game.

I would be happy with similar statistical improvement next year that we saw this year. that would put him at about 10.5 ppg and 5 rebound per game.

If we can get 8 points and 6 boards out of Blair, and a few points (5-6) and boards (4-5) from Stutz and Ellis, we should have the top frontcourt in the conference.

JT has transformed himself. It's mind boggling to compare the progress made from early in the season to the end of the season. He recognized what it was going to take and then went to work. He got a lot of help from the coaches, but he is the one getting it done.

Congratulations JT on the body of work. Remember that there is no finish line in these endeavors.

Stutz will get stronger, tougher mentally, and has a very nice shot. Durley has untapped potential and the abilities to reach down deep and become a more consistent player. Gabe could be a sleeper and I like his size. Dave Dahl (I think it was him) mentioned that Arizona State hated losing Johnny Coy and they have a tough squad. However, Mr. Hatch and the Hawk will not be easy to 'beat out' for playing time. Ellis does have his moments and plays some defense and started scoring more. Hamilton sounds like a keeper but am not sure if his contibutions will be immediate. Thus, I see an improved inside game and I believe our guard mix will be the best in a long while next Season.

The way that Durley tookover the game in the last half was a real joy to watch. For a while there, I saw some of the "X" attitude of old on display. The young man certainly does have it if he continues to focus on his improvement?

Yep, I hoped he would not come back as well. While the old JT operating at 40% effort was not much, this new JT operating at maximum effort is fun to watch and fun to support.
