    1. Patty is a guy.

    2. He's black.

A black guy named Patty (okay, Patrick, but they call him Patty) from one of the world's whiter and historically more race-conscious countries (at least officially), Australia. What will they think of next?

By the way, St. Mary's has four Aussies, all from the "Australian Institute of Sport" -- sounds like a good place to recruit.

We have a guy on our team named Rotnei Clarke who is white. We also have a black guy named Courtney. And last year we had a black guy on our football team named Chip.

Viewing audiences love rooting for the underdog and that would be us. I guess what I am trying to say
is that the NCAA tourney needs us(Mid Majors).
Hadn't thought about that but it's true for me. I love watching the first few days. After that it just depends but I do watch less. Many times I don't even end up watching the Final Four or National Championship game. I'll just flip to SportsCenter for the highlights.
Same for me...I'm livin' the good life at the local pub the first few days. The underdog teams, Cinderella teams, whatever you want to call them, they make the tournament worth watching. Everyone expects UConn or Duke or Kansas to do well but when you have schools like Wichita State, George Mason, Davidson shock the so called bracketology experts, now THAT'S exciting! :bball_spin:

            Good stuff

This should probably be in a thread of its own, because it's far afield from the subject of "mid-majors" in the tournament. So I'll answer here and then drop out in hopes of allowing the thread to return to its advertised subject, and if I decide to continue on this I'll start a new one.

Anyway, ASM, I remember Reggie Cleveland, because I'm a longtime Cardinals fan (although he's long since receded deep into my memory bank). It's amusing to see our old nemesis Nate Funk on there. Maybe if that team ever assembled for a game of something they could have Spencer Davis, who also sounded black, sing the national anthem.

Charlie, if you look at the Wikipedia entry that contains ASM's teams, you'll also find a "Lindsey Hunter All-Stars" team that contains a couple of Courtneys. Maybe you can add a member. Long-time Shocker fans will also remember a touted Eddie Fogler recruit who never really panned out, a black guy from New Jersey named Chip Thompson.
