No one said they can do no wrong. We are human and I've yet to find the perfect person among us.
The key word here is intentional, as in doing something with an agenda.

You have no clue how much these games are analyzed over and over via tape. The league, officials and of course, the teams scrutinize every play during a game.
If there was any indication an official was making certain calls to benefit either a team or player, the evidence would speak loud and clear.
The offending person would be easily determined and their career would be over.

It may be convenient and even make one feel better to complain about those "Valley Refs" but the truth is if anyone could do it, everyone on here would have been assigned at least one game this year.

Everyone except SF, who would complain his partners weren't up to his standard and expect twice the game fee. 8)
Above all, make the right call.

I'd take half the pay and still make you look like a pooper trooper.

Did a quick check of boxscores. That guy has worked at least 4 WSU league games this season. Sorry no conspiracy or ulterior motives here.

It appears Bo Bo just plain sucks, so to speak!! (don't you just miss that phrase)

That referee sight may not be the most current or reliable either.

SR, help me out here. I'm not an official, so I'll take your word for it that they work hard and try to get better by reviewing games and plays, etc.

But can you explain how huge free throw disparities like the one WSU experienced at SIU or the even bigger one that Drake faced at Bradley occur so often in games where the score isn't a factor (i.e., close enough that there's no series of fouls being given late in the game)? I have little doubt that you could find at least one or two a week in just about every league. More important, how is it that such FT disparities almost always favor the home team?

I'm not questioning anyone's integrity, but how does this happen?

The difference in the SIU game is easy. I've said this elsewhere and will say it again. SIU was aggressive on offense and we weren't. SIU penetrated with their guards and we didn't. SIU pounded the ball inside and we didn't. SIU also did a good job of blocking out and getting rebounds. We didn't. That there will cause one team to foul more than the other.

As far as Drake goes, they're known to rely heavily on the three point shot. That doesn't lead to many FT situations. Bradley is better at getting the ball inside to draw fouls.

As far as it favoring the home team, I'd guess that has something to do with the home team feeling for comfortable/confident at home and staying aggressive.

So if I understand you correctly, Sub, you are saying ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS pound it inside and you will ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS end up with more FTs? It seems simple enough, but I don't buy it. In my opinion that is a bailout. When the shot clock is running down just run at the basket and you'll end up at the line. Obviously my thinking on the FT difference also is how Pat Knight feels. He just got suspended for it. I'm just a dumb fan.

its a proven fact that if you attack the rim your chances of getting to the line go up. More than likely somebody will be like "oh crap that guys taking it to the house buy im aout of position" and will likely foul that player. Whether they hack or go up and get them on the body contesting the shot.

Shocker teams of the past including our sweet sixteen team lacked the desire to get to the whole. Players showed signs but backed away. When Paul was here we could throw it to him and even he didnt want to be near the rim.

And yeah I could go on and on and on

That's pretty accurate. You're not guaranteed anything, but you're not going to shoot a lot of FTs when you settle for mostly jumpshots from 17+ feet which is what we've been doing.

Always? No. More often than not? Hell ya.

Bailout? It's called being aggressive and you're going to be rewarded for it. Moreso than being extremely passive. It's hard to get fouled if you're not going to attack the defense.

Not exactly. Most officials in that situation aren't going to bailout the offense. It pretty much takes a boneheaded defensive play to get to the line there.

Obviously my thinking on the FT difference also is how Pat Knight feels. He just got suspended for it. I'm just a dumb fan.
I know nothing about this. But if his teams aren't being aggressive then there's your answer. He should know better than to make whatever comments he did anyway. EVERYBODY knows the rules coaches have to follow there.

WSU has had an aggressive offense and went out to big leads several times this year and last year. Then the other team calls a time-out and comes out aggressive on defense by bumping and hounding our guards and few foul calls. It is hard to continue to get it inside and run an offense when the other team is allowed to play aggressive defense with few fouls called.

That being said I will be happy if we stop running the shot clock down to 10 seconds and then expecting a short guard to run the same play over and over again and get no shot or a poor one off. Teams know this is coming and we seem to run the same play every time where the guard dribbles to the middle off a screen only to be covered by an even bigger player. Hannah may get a shot off but Chamberlain cannot. I would rather them take a shot from way out then to do that play again and again.

We seem to shoot pretty good off ball screens during the offense but not on that play. Why don't we run more of the ball screen plays earlier in the offense?
