5th most tickets for the 5th place team? I wonder if that number will jump if we win Saturday.

I don't think our placement is entirely to blame for low ticket sales. The economy (layoffs) in combination with traveling distance in these troubled times are also deterring fans. SIU should always have a big crowd; the tournament is in their backyard. :wsu_posters:

Oh the stupid things we do while we await Saturday's games.

If one looks at the Valley schools in terms of driving miles to STL they line up as follows:

        SIU - 113
        InS - 168
        IlS - 168
        BU - 169
        EU - 170
        MSU - 216
        UNI - 348
        CU - 433
        DU - 436
        WSU - 442

Now, if one multiplies the mileage by the number of tickets sold the list sorts out this way:

        CU - 747,791
        WSU - 307,190
        DU - 218,000
        IlS - 184,800
        BU - 156,156
        UNI - 141,636
        SIU - 124,300
        MSU - 82,080
        EU - 51,000
        InS - 17,472

Isn't it silly what we fans do to make us feel good about ourselves. We do love to pat ourselves on the back.

Is there a font color with less contrast on black than olive?

How many WSU alums from around the St. Louis area purchase tickets? I know of at least 2 and I'm sure there are quite a bit more.

Ticket sales seem down for all school, i wonder if they keep going like this, if they would consider at least rotating the tourney from KC to StL

Not any time soon. The tournament came up for bid and the MVC signed an extension with STL for 4 more years. So there will not be any new consideration until the contract runs out.

If tourney moved to KC here is the net mileage change for each school.

                WSU - (247)
                CU - (246)
                DU - (242)
                UNI - (twenty eight)
                MSU - (5)
                IlS - 212
                BU - 212
                InS - 240
                SIU - 248
                EU - 248

                Three clear winners.

                Five clear losers.

I still hope at some point they do rotate the tournament between KC and STL. Whatever they lose in SIU, BU and ISU fans they'll more than make up for in CU and WSU fans.

It sure would be nice to cut the travel time in half...

Also think about the people in the KC metro who are quasi WSU (or God forbid cu fans) who normally wouldn't go to the 'Lou, but would go to the tourny in KC simply because its in their back yard.

The same thing can be said of fans from all the schools in the STL area. Doug Elgin is quite happy with the tourney in STL

My mileage was based on a quick Google Maps Directions search, the route is all freeway STL to KC to DM. I can see that there are probably more direct routes via state highways. But hey, that does help our case any. :)
