  • Jim Calhoun handles a reporter - like Bob Knight would

The reporter sounded a bit like a fool as he pressed Calhoun about his salary in light of the state budget deficit.

Too bad Calhoun didn't keep his cool a little bit better.

I saw that on the news this morning. The reporter is an idiot. Calhoun could have handled it better but I can't completely fault him for it.

Calhoun asked the guy to cool it with his line of questions, and even offered to talk to him later. Calhoun wished to talk about the basketball game, not his salary. The reporter kept pushing. He had an agenda.

I don't fault Calhoun at all. He put the idiot in his place.

That reporter has some issues and i agree with Calhoun get your facts straight before you go bashing someone. I would say the same if he was to do that to any other coach in the country, except maybe Bill Self

I think Bobby would of been alot harsher than that....I think Calhoun was actually showing some restraint especially when the reporter said "Well if you guys would cover this stuff I wouldnt have to ask"
1/16/2010 on the "Screw at the Q" HCGM... " Ive never seen a foul parade like that...If you would of let me know it was going to be a foul parade I would of brought a different team" .... "dont talk to me about fouls....Ive got to go back and look at some tape... I have some thoughts but I need to look at the tape and then I will have something very strong to say"

Jim Calhoun must be old school - he said "your welcome" to the reporter "thankyou".

I agree, some people always have an agenda and no matter how hard you try to defuse them, sometime you just have to put them in their place. Remember when a reporter a few years back kept on him about not recruiting a player that just lit UCONN up that night!

I love how he told the reporter to come back with some facts. The reporter asked him about his 1.5 milllion salary, then he changed to 1.6. Calhoun laughed and I said I make a lot more than that...classic. That reporter was an idiot.

That player was none other than Ryan Gomes. If PC would not have offered at the 11th hour chances are he would have played here.
