  • Cleveland State not hurt by loss to WSU in RPI

Just checked Cleveland State's RPI to see how bad the drop was going to be after losing to Wichita State...

The verdict? CSU dropped from 71 to 73, TWO WHOLE SPOTS! Someone take this team off life support!

I guess all their fussing was for nada! 8) :posterwu:
I have come here to chew bubblegum and kickass ... and I'm all out of bubblegum.

The whole point of bracketbuster is to raise your rpi so you can be noticed by the committee. This loss will hurt them pretty badly even if the rpi doesn't show it.

Still, it's not like they were going to be noticed by the committee anyways...

If they won that game on Sat., finish 2nd in their conference, and play well in their tournament they probably would have gotten some looks from the committee.

          Wrong.

Considering there have been 6-7 non-BCS at-large bids the last couple seasons, there is no realistic chance of CSU getting one this season.

I didn't say they wouldn't get in with that resume, but they would get a little attention. You are right it's not very realistic for them to get in.

Look at their body of work, they have no chance in hell of being on the "bubble watch". These are all negative:

              SOS - 121
              RPI - 73
              Road 6-7
              Vs Top 100 (2-5)
              vs 100-200 6-3

There is not one positive in their resume.

The Shocks are 6-8 against the top 100. That's better and more often than I would have thought, off the cuff.

Cleveland State is a NIT bubble team. The loss hurt but didn't kill there chances for that tournament IMO.

Oklahoma didn't really get hurt by their loss to Texas either, but they will if they lose to KU tonight.

I don't think it would hurt much because the committee knows who is not playing tonight. Win or lose tonight, if they do OK the rest of the way with him, they will still get a top seed.

More important - what did beating CSU do for our RPI?

It is possible that we could still have a chance for one of the lesser post season tournaments.

put us at about 146. Which to even have a shot at one of the lower tourney it needs to be up about 25 spots

Or we could just win the Valley Tourney and go Dancin in style!
