They may as well just cut and paste him each week..... :D

I would guess that "consistency" is one of the answers to your question, fuball. Not that Murry hasn't had it, but a consistenly good player could play well the entire year, but never great, and win NOY.

Recall that Maurice Evans did not win Valley FOY. (Which still irks me.)

i could maybe understand it if we were in the bottom 2 in the valley again but if we stay in the middle of the pack, especially ahead of siu i think he should get it.

Don't forget about Moran @ UNI. Starting point guard for the conference champs (maybe).

This is where you'll hear the media talk about "body of work".

The thing is, though, Dillard's numbers aren't what they were a couple weeks ago, and now he and Murry and in pretty much a dead heat, stats-wise. You might have been able to make a case for "body of work" when Dillard was up in the 14ppg realm and Murry around 10.5ppg. Not so now - they are very close now, both overall and conference-only.

With the Shocks moving up and SIU moving down, I like Murry's chances. Both these guys might be hitting the wall a little - you know the grind of the college season vs. HS etc. Murry needs to put another 20pt effort in the books to solidify his position - or another last-second game winner! WSU staying ahead of SIU in the standings will be important.

Moran isn't in the top 30 in overall scoring and Murry is ahead or near him in most conference-only categories. Weems might enter in the discussion, too, but unless he goes nuts to close out it will be Murry vs. Dillard. MoSt near the bottom probably kills Weems anyway.

Off guard....and I say that not to correct you but to clarify that Ahelegbe is the catalyst of the offense and Moran, for all his strengths, is a complimentary piece of the puzzle.

In Moran's first eight MVC games he averaged 11.5 ppg. That got him into the FOY discussion. In the six games since then he's averaged 6.1 ppg, effectively taking him out of the discussion.

It take quite a lot - like averaging 15 over the next three games - to get him back in again, IMO. And even that might not be enough.

I also think that because UNI has a number of quality players, they make him a better player. They don't have to rely on him for production. It's an entirely different story for Murry and Dillard.

It all should come down to who is the most important to their team. That would be Toure, no question.

This discussion will probably come down to the last game of the season. Whoever has the better game I suspect will take the award.
