  • A strong finish and ......

Do we have a shot at post season? Excluding winning the obvious. What about the NIT or CBI (Whatever the name is this year) Do we have a shot? Thoughts anyone. If we go two and two that puts us at 15 and 15, win two in St. Louis and we are 17 and 16. I think we have an outside shot.

It depends on what we do in St. Louis, we are not getting into the NCAA or NIT with a 17-16 record obviously. We would probaly have to win out and at least making it to the tourney finals.

NCAA we have to win out.

NIT is a small possibility. It would involve us winning out from this point and at least reaching the finals of our own tourney to get a legit shot. This is just IMO and the likelyhood of it happening are slim to none. But I still hope.

CBI Im not sure. I didnt follow the tourney last year and to be honest Im not really sure of there procedures. If the above scenario plays out partially im sure we could go to that tourney or the newest one they set up. So postseason play isnt out of the question per se.

But the main ones are pretty far reaching goals right now. It could happen but it would take perfection for it to be reached. And we has Shocker fans should be pretty used to the craziest shat happening to us.

Tiny. We are 1 game under .500 against D1 competition.

There will be 32 NIT some of which will be auto bids for regular season champions of conferences that do not win their postseason tournament.

I suppose there would be a SLIGHT chance that if we were to finish 4-0 and win at least one game in the tournament (17-14 or 18-14 against D1) that the NIT could select us but I think that's a long long shot.

        I'll give the following chances:

2-2 (or worse) and don't get to the finals of the MVC = 0%

3-1 and get to the semis = 10% chance of the CBI or CIC.

3-1 and get to the finals = 30% chance of the CBI or CIC.

4-0 and lose 1st round = 10% chance of the CBI or CIC.

4-0 and get to the semis = 40 % chance of the CBI or CIC and 10% NIT.

4-0 and get to the finals = 70% chance of the CBI or CIC and 30% NIT.

It is nice to at least be able to think about this....however based upon what we have done all year and how ISU is playing tonight, I am afraid our only chance is to keep focused and get lucky in the Lou.

We shouldn't get ahead of ourselves we still need to avoid to the play-in game.

Just for the record, the NIT and CBI will take the best teams (ie the teams most likely to make them money) available with no limitations.

The CIC will take teams with winning records only (really kills us as we are still 1 under against D1) but will give preference to teams in conferences that are not part of the Big6.

Interestingly enough, the Shocks have wins over current mid major top 25 teams Sienna, Creighton, Illinois State, Northern Iowa and games remaining against ISU and Cleveland State.

I could see them giving us consideration if we have 7 or 8 wins against teams in their rankings and Gregg on the voting staff.

Doesn't help that our conference is currently ranked 10th among other conferences.

But only fourth among non-big six conferences. And, if you only count conferences with the initials MVC, we're first!

Chance for NCAA 100% if we win out in St Louis!

                  I believe!
