Honestly I was mildly frustrated by the two non-Higgins refs but what killed us was the scoring a mere 6 points in the first 10:30 or so in the second half before Ellis's trey. A.E.'S trey seemed to get our Shocks out of their rut :good:

This team is young and will continue to have moments of severe regression, at home they seem to be able to overcome the implosion while road trips have lacked the ability to overcome such lapses.

I am very pleased with the team and especially the coaching staff and their ability to overcome the o-for start in the Valley.

im getting tired of us getting called for fouls when defending a guy strait up and the other team clears space by throwing his elbow into us. I love that we dont flop trying to draw the foul and risk giving up a layup but it is crazy that the refs arent calling this.

cook used this move every dang time he caught the ball last night. then the uni players would whine about us using elbows to clear space but we didnt ever use it as blatantly as they did.

If UNI makes their FTs, the Shox get BLOWN OUT!! At one point late in the second half, it was 26-7 in FTs shot. I don't understand how that can be possible. The Shox only fouled when UNI was shooting and UNI never fouled when the Shox were shooting? I doubt it. The good news, UNI didn't make all of the FTs they were supposed to.

If the Shox made 75% of their missed shots from 2-3 feet or awarded foul shots when fouled, we'd have won by 30+!

I brought my neighbor who is a Pittsburg State and Oklahoma Sooner fan who attends Barton County CC games regularly. About six minutes into the game he was whining that these refs were getting nearly as horrible as "seen on the Hill" (reference to Barton County JUCO.)

I said, I often believe WSU gets the shaft, but figure it is my lack of objectiveness. He said maybe normally, but NOT TONIGHT. These guys might be worse than JUCO.

After attendng the Hutch-Butler game this past Wednesday, we've not seen officiating as bad as that game.

Actually, ShockMe, inasmuch as UNI is a 75% free throw shooting team, if they had hit their average (thus, 21-28 instead of their actual 17-28 last night), the Shocks wouldn't have been blown out at all, although the game would certainly have been more exciting and a closer victory.

Still, the discrepancy is pretty amazing at times.

The one that I thought was the worst was the no call when one of the guards from UNI (#5 I believe) ran thru Graham Hatch
with a minute or two to go. He knocked Hatch flat on his back at half court. HCGM was told by an official that Graham floped.

Two of the refs did a fine job. Pretty much every questionable to bad call was made by one man.
