Why do we always have to matchup with our opponents? Why can't we use our advantages to force them to change? I don't fully understand that line of thinking. Play you're game and beat them at it. Make them have to play to you. Once you start playing to your opponents you're already playing from behind...

I think that's a fair question Sub. At what point does the offensive potential of having a player on the floor negate the potential that the opponent will take advantage on the other end. Consider Durley last year. We clearly needed his offensive production but it seemed his defensive lapses negated that advantage. I guess that's why the coach makes the big bucks ... i.e. to make those judgments. But, I would say that generally defensive efficiency is going to trump offensive in that formula ... at least that is how it appears in most cases.

You don't have to worry about match-ups when you have players like Toure, Paul Miller, Cousinard, etc. If you don't have either a dominant guy, or a lack of depth, then you always have to worry about match-ups.

I don't see why such a comparison matters. For one thing we heard that AJ would be an improvement over PJ.

I'm hoping for an All American in our bunch (Murry) and many Valley honors. A nice GPA would be ok. I hope they each get a cheerleader and we fill the rafters with banners.

Hopefully the contest is who goes 1st in the halftime ceremony for the Shocker HOF.

My vote is for Ellis being an all-star. Hatch leaving the team. PJ being POY. Stutz as FOY. A 2nd place finish. Hawkins making us forget about PJ...

I'll tell you who's better in two years.

                  Blair....but its close.
We are still weak up front.
We will still need additional front line help to get into top tier.

Ya, Hatch leaving makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. Unless, it's a Bret Wise type of situation. I would like a little more explanation of why you think that will happen.

No matter how high or low we go this Season, we are getting better and moving forward. Each game, when I see Gabe and Johnny, knowing they are already learning the Marshall Plan--it makes me smile. We are not done THIS Season and a win tonight would be cool. However, having two transfers already practicing now is huge as we look ahead.

As far as this comparison, in time, both players should be key players. A friend "in the know" that many of you speak of here on SN, has seen Gabe play several times. He told me he thinks that Gabe will be a "difference maker" Shocker player. Hopefully this summer, I will get to see both of these players play. If Johnny develops into a "Kyle Wilson" type player, count me in for sure. If Kenny M. plays defense as mentioned as Paul Pressey, count me in. Gabe may be a "sleeper" for us.

In the meanwhile, I think our Shocks this Season will have a solid 2nd half Valley finish and make some noise at St. Louie!!!!!!! Nothern Iowa is beatable tonight---but it will take our A game to pull this out. Let's do it!
Shocker basketball will forever be my favorite team in all of sports.
