But over the years, Randy McCall has been a very good official.
Did he have a less than perfect game?
Quite possibly. We ALL have sub-par days.
But over the years, Randy is a professional and does a good job. 8)
Again, I did not see the game and this particular incident.
If Randy strictly went over to 'showboat' the WSU huddle (which I highly doubt), he was in the wrong. However, we do not know if 1) He went over to mention something of benefit to GM about his team, or 2) He was asked about something earlier and used the dead ball opportunity to try and address the question.
A lot of times coaches will ask a question during a live ball and we can not answer during play. We will attempt to answer the question at the appropriate time.
Keep in mind coaches state one their biggest issues with officials is we do not answer their questions during a game. Therefore, we make a concerted effort to address them, when possible.
With this particular situation we don't know. Only Randy does. 8)Above all, make the right call.

From Shockwaves:
Marshall did not agree with that call, and several others, by referee Randy McCall. After the game, Marshall said that was the first game WSU has won with McCall officiating. In the past two seasons, McCall has done nine WSU games, and the Shockers are 1-8with a win over Gardner-Webb (easily forgotten). I wish referees would speak after games. Then we would really get some good banter going , because you know referees would have some good jabs at coaches. As is, it’s a one-sided fight with coaches getting the voice with no chance for referees to defend. It will be interesting to see if McCall shows up again this season. I don’t know if he is a good ref or a bad ref, or if he has it in for WSU (I doubt that). There definitely appears to be some friction.
I think that says it all!Shocker Football...Alive in '95 errr 2005 errr 2025!!

So here's the deal with the Ref in the Shockers huddle. GM got his attention and let him know that he hasn't won a Valley game yet that he has been a ref in. As GM went back to team huddle for time out, said Ref walked either by or through the huddle and said ......hey Greg, guess what I don't give a ####.
I can't believe this has to be tolerated. And the unprofessionalism shown by this ref is outrageous.

If Gregg said that then he asked for that response. And the good news is McCall was being honest.Infinity Art Glass - Fantastic local artist and Shocker fan
