  • Phillips leaves Redbirds

    Indefinitely, for personal reasons.

Wow, I thought they would wear down this season due to lack of depth. And that was when we played them. Now, they are really without any depth.

    Homer: WOOHOO! Four day weekend.

Perhaps his personal reason is shame from his top-4 MVC squad getting swept by InSU?

From reading the ISU board, it appears he has until Thursday to decide if he wants to stay or go.

It sounds like the issue is that Phillips isn't happy that Eldridge and Oguchi are the scorers and that his job is to get them the ball. Their fans have noticed he seems to take shots when there are others open with a better look. There's also been problems with the team getting along together all season.

I wonder if him leaving could end up being a net positive.

This is one team I hate to see bad things happen to. They're already thin but if he has an ego issue and can't accept his role on the team then maybe it is better for him to leave.

I know you won't believe me but when the Redbirds played here, I told the guy next to me that by his body language, Phillips didn't look like he was too happy.

Sometimes these situations don't work out well in the locker room. At this stage of the season that could be a factor for the birds with red feathers.
