  • Remaining MVC Predictions

This is a combination of predictions and possibly some wishful thinking. Am I perfectly objective? Not on your life!

I have the Shox winning at home against UNI and on the road against Evansville and SIU. All of these will be tough, but I have a feeling that the team is really turning the corner. I really believe that 5th place is now a possibility. I have the Shox losing at Illinois State and I really believe that they could give the Redbirds all they want and even possibly win the game.

Then, I'll predict WSU beating Bradley, UNI and Creighton in that order to win Arch Madness.

It's asking a lot for sure. I'll be the 1st to admit that my glass is half full.

You have SIU playing the wrong opponent on Senior night......but it is fun to think that way.

You also have both Drake and SIU losing when they play. I think you meant to put that the 486 people in attendance will be the losers.

I know I'll sound like a homer but I really think 5th looks attainable right now.

Indiana State is going to finish last. MSU shouldn't get any more than 6 or 7 wins tops. If SIU doesn't win in Springfield Saturday then they'll most likely need to win their last 3 to finish 8-10. Drake is playing bad and looks to have 3-6 losses left. Then there is Evansville. If they lose to us Saturday they are TOAST. Even if they win, they still could finish 7-11. 9-9 would be one hell of an acomplishment for them.

10-8 for sure gets us 5th. 9-9 probably does. IF, and certainly that is a BIG IF, we continue to play hard, then I believe it's 5th or 6th for us.

We went from 0-6 to 5-7 pretty quickly. It can certainly change in an instant. We didn't play our best ball last night. We still won. We still won on the road. I'm not gonna complain about our record over the last 6 games, but I'm not gonna assume we're missing out on Thursday night already either. These next three games will be KEY.
                Deuces Valley.
                ... No really, deuces.

The Shox really need to win at least 2 of the next 3. Winning all 3 would put them in very good shape to avoid Thursday in St. Louis.

For right now, I just hope like the dickens they take care of Evansville Saturday night.

                    Wow

My glass is half full, too, but I'll still be very pleasantly surprised if the Shocks win at Evansville or Carbondale. So the digit man ("150946?") has a glass that must be about 3/4 full, if not more.

The good news is that with Mullins injured, Drake faltering, and Evansville up against a tough stretch of games, it's very possible that even 8-10 may be good enough for 5th or at worst 6th, with the top four teams in the league soaking up a disproportionate number of wins.

All I want to do is avoid playing on Thursday in St. Louis. If we can avoid Thursday, then who knows what could happen..

It's not going to be an easy feat no matter what.. but it's definitely something this team can do.

I thought it was Aargh who had the moving target for WSU's Valley record? Apparently the fever (as opposed to Fever, whose glass is 1/4 full) is spreading.

The CU loss is going to be reversed by Doug Elgin, just you wait and see.
