  • Pre game show question

Just tuned in to the pregame show and heard there was a question about Ramone's path to playing college ball but didn't catch much else. Can anybody fill me in?

Ramone has always been one of my favorites. Hope he can get back to putting up double-doubles tonight!!

I'm pretty sure he didn't play High School ball...

I think he just played street ball, and never played ball in HS. Was seen playing, and invited to go play juco ball.

Something about they were trying to make him into a point guard in HS and it didn't work, he was unhappy and didn't return.

While not playing HS basketball, I thought that Ramon did play with an AAU team or some kind of organized team. I thought that's how Spinelli found him...

Spinelli was recruiting him at Nebraska, I would assume he placed him at Paris.

An AAU coach saw him playing street ball. Encouraged him to get his GED so he could play at a juco. Ramon worked two jobs, including at a VA hospital where he took some classes to prepare for his GED. Passed it and ended up at Paris CC.

                  Clemente

Ramon Clemente spoke before Marshall did at the luncheon at Koch about 2 wks ago. Some of you may have seen my review of Ramon's remarks then. It's really a remarkable story. After he finished, GM got up and told the audience that Ramone is also now on track to graduate this spring.

And speaking of Ramon, how about this from last night's game:

"Every time they fouled me I looked back at their coach and I told him 'Watch this, coach,' " Clemente said. "He was laughing. I thought it was pretty funny."
