  • Standings At Half Way

    Northern Iowa 8-1
    Illinois State 6-3
    Bradley 6-3
    Creighton 5-4
    Drake 5-4
    S. Illinois 4-5
    Evansville 4-5
    Wichita State 3-6
    Missouri State 2-7
    Indiana State 2-7

The rest of the schedule looks good for us, with home games against MSU and ISU blue. If we don't want last place we need to win both of those. Evansville has a real tough schedule from here out with both home games against ISU and MSU already gone. If the Shox want to try and catch SIU they'll probably need to win in Carbondale.

    Evansville Schedule
    @ Drake (Loss)
    SIU (50/50)
    @ Mo State (50/50)
    WSU (50/50)
    Illinois State (Loss)
    @ Bradley (Loss)
    @ Creighton (Loss)
    Bradley (Loss)
    @ N Iowa (Loss)

FINISH: I see them getting either 1, 2, or 3 wins the rest of the way out.

    Southern Illinois Schedule
    Mo State (Win)
    @ Evansville (50/50)
    Illinois State (Loss)
    @ Mo State (50/50)
    @ Northern Iowa (Loss)
    Creighton (25/75)
    Indiana State (Win)
    @ Drake (Loss)
    Wichita State (50/50)

FINISH: I see them getting either 3, 4, or 5 wins so the Salukis will be tough to get past.

    WICHITA STATE SCHEDULE
    @ Bradley (25/75)
    Drake (75/25)
    @ Indiana State (75/25)
    @ Evansville (50/50)
    Mo State (Win)
    Northern Iowa (25/75)
    @ Illinois State (Loss)
    Indiana State (Win)
    @ SIU (50/50)

FINISH: I see the Shox getting either getting 4 or 5 wins but they need to take care of business on the road.

    MISSOURI STATE SCHEDULE

    @ SIU (25/75)
    @ Creighton (Loss)
    Evansville (50/50)
    SIU (50/50)
    @ Wichita State (Loss)
    Indiana State (75/25)
    @ Bradley (Loss)
    Creighton (25/75)
    @ Indiana State (50/50)

FINISH: I see them getting probably 2 or 3 wins, maybe 4.

    INDIANA STATE SCHEDULE
    @ Creighton (Loss)
    Northern Iowa (Loss)
    Wichita State (25/75)
    @ Illinois State (Loss)
    Drake (25/75)
    @ Missouri State (25/75)
    @ SIU (Loss)
    @ Wichita State (Loss)
    Missouri State (50/50)

FINISH: I see them winning only 1 or 2 more games this season.

How bad does that Bradley loss sting now?

Win that one and we're 4-5 and tied for 6th.
    Deuces Valley.
    ... No really, deuces.

I looked at the remaining schedule today and the last game of the season (@SIU) might be the game to decide who gets a Thursday game.

I'm confident of moving past UE and after the wakeup call today - and I expect WSU's improvement on the season isn't done yet, I think we have a better than 50/50 shot at a sweep. Probably more like 51/49, but sweeping E'ville is a possibility.

There's another half of the season to go, so looking at the last game of the season is premature. A lot can happen in the next 9 games, but I can't see CU or DU dropping into the bottom 4. Getting past SIU and UE appears to be the only way to avoid Thursday night.

CU might be vulnerable. Their lack of an inside game is being exploited. Their lack of an effective offense against a zone is being exploited. They could fold up the tents after DU blew them up in Omaha.
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.
We like to cut down nets and get sized for championship rings.

I'm just planning on worrying about one game at a time (and hope it works nine straight times).

            That is the proper approach.

As you can see from the standings, with the exception of Northern Iowa, any team can be beaten on any given day. There is a lot of parity this year.

I don't think you can not give us at least a 25/75 chance @Illinois State. We beat them in Wichita, so idk how you can just count them out like that...

Right now I see it as a loss, and it'll be that way until this team actually wins a road game.

Either way I plan on being in St. Louis for the games Thursday. However, it would be nice to have the night off and watch 4 teams below us duke it out. Honestly, Creighton should be on the list too, they are in a free fall right now and it would be funny to see them hit rock bottom.

The Shockers have to find a way to win on the road if they want to avoid Thursday Play-ins. They haven't proven that they can yet, but if we get it done on Wed. against one of the upper half Valley teams, this team has a real shot at it. With 2 other very winnable road games left on the schedule vs. Evansville and Indiana St. Win on Wed. and I think this team will crawl all of the way out, unless of course they drop one of the must wins vs. Indiana St.

I hope the team realizes how important a win at Indiana State is. We know how big it is as fans.

The attendance and atmosphere being sucked out at the Hulman Center sure isn't gonna make it seem like a big game to our young team, but it is.

Who wouldn't want to see Creighton fail?
