Geez, you guys are sure sensitive this morning. Makes me feel like kcshox. My point being that if we do not have him on the dotted line and he has a great year for Three Rivers thern what's to say some BCS school with a decent engineering program doesn't come along and sign him? Who knows what "benefits" they might offer him?

From everything we know about Ehimen, we should give him more credit than that. I'm not worried about other programs coming in. They've already tried that when we were struggling to get him out of Nigeria.

I agree that there is some risk as long as he is not signed. But his parents were both well educated and he seems to value his education quite a bit. He also sounds very impressed with the aerospace engineering program at Wichita State.

Don't forget, Marshall has had very good luck getting the recruits who show up on campus to come to school here. Plus, he did play with the other players on the team in pick up games over the summer. The players on the team could be very influential in bringing him here.

You have to pay for a "scratch card" just to view your results. You can only check 5 times on one scratch card to see if your results are available then have to pay for another one.

A new study by the National Science Foundation ranks Wichita State University third among all U.S. universities in money spent on aerospace engineering research and development.

That's an improvement from the previous year's fourth-place ranking, and it places WSU in the company of Johns Hopkins University and the Georgia Institute of Technology, which were first and second, respectively.

WSU placed above prestigious universities such as the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Texas A&M University (He wouldn't try would he? ).
So basically, as long G.I.T. or Johns Hopkins isn't needing a 7 footer, we should be in the clear! ;-) :yahoo:

EO also talked about the relationships he built over the summer with Garrett, Gabe, and others....

I think that in combination with his career/study aspirations will keep him pretty firmly rooted in his commitment....

                      Great article...

Ehimen loves Wichita and made some great friends here, both on and off the team. Unless something really weird happens, I'm not the least bit worried Ehimen would waver on his commitment.

It's very likely WSU will get an LOI on day 1 of the early signing period. It's hard to have a break out season that early in the season.

I doubt EO will forget who got him out of Nigeria, and I bet he's rather happy to be out of Nigeria.

I doubt many schools are going to pursue an unknown player who has a solid verbal commitment. It would be suicidal for a school to offer any extra "benefits" or "inducements" to a player at 3 Rivers with a verbal to WSU. WSU has an outstanding relationship with 3 Rivers on several levels.

EO will sign a new LOI in November and that will put and end to the efforts of other schools to convince him to dump WSU.

HCGM did a great job of talking EO and his coach into red shirting him this year not only to give him an extra year at WSU
but to hide him from scavenging recruiters that are always hanging around outside locker rooms.

                              Hmmm

"So basically, as long G.I.T. or Johns Hopkins isn't needing a 7 footer, we should be in the clear!"

Uh, Cold -- G.I.T., as you quaintly abbreviate their name, is better known to most as Georgia Tech, and they'd probably be delighted to have a 7 foot center. We are probably safe from poaching by Johns Hopkins as long as Orukpe doesn't take up lacrosse, though.

I was under the impression that a player can only sign one binding letter of intent, and that once it expires any future letters are non-binding. They can still be signed: recall, for example, that Turgeon had Fridge Holman sign a letter as a personal statement and reminder of his commitment to WSU, even though both knew it had no legal force; and something like that may happen with Orukpe as well. But the real driver of his commitment to WSU will come from within him as an individual, and there's absolutely no reason to think any of that has changed.

I hope he comes. I expect him to come; but if he went somewhere else a year from now, I would not think less of him, nor would it make him any less of a person, in my view. Backing out of a current commitment is one thing, backing out of a commitment made years ago, in a totally different set of circumstances, is a whole different kind of duck.
