I had sent a PM to Johnny Coy's brother, who for those of you who don't know is Johnny's brother. Here is most of his reply back to me:

Please post this at some time if you would about his hardship status:

Our dad had had cancer for 29 years. He was given 6 months to live at that time and is a miracle to still be alive. He has gradually gotten worse over the years and in the past two months his stroke among other things in regards to his health made Johnny want to be closer to home. OUr dad has 4 doctors write about his illness and poor health including the stroke and it will be sent to the NCAA. Coach Sendek and the doctor at ASU will also write to the NCAA. The problem lies with the NCAA is that when Johnny went to ASU he knew how bad our dads health was and there was a chance his health could deterioriate like it has. Obviously we had hoped his health wouldn't have gotten worse so dramatically, but it did. So to say its 100% guaranteed that JOhnny will get this hardship is not true. In reality its probably about 50 50. You never know how the NCAA will see things. Hope that makes sense.

If he doesn't receive a hardship we shall riot in the streets.

Seeing how the NCAA is a cancer, I dunno. The logical thing to do would be to give him the extra year. Again though, logical and NCAA don't go well together.

Regardless of the NCAA's final decision, we are glad Johnny is a Shocker and hope that his father's health improves and he lives many long and happy years.

If he was going to KU he would get the hardship, since he's going to WSU he won't is my guess.

But like others, I'm glad the Mr. Coy is a Shocker and my prayers go out to him, his father and family.

If he does not get it, would he then play basketball after the first semester? Mid-year? If that is the case, would he have 4 years or 3 1/2 remaining eligibility at that point?
