So why exactly did you start this thread anyway? You obviously wanted some type of reaction. You already know how many of us feel about the KU/WSU not playing thing. And obviously how many of us feel about KU in general. And after all, this is a WSU board..

Well explain the hatred between the two schools then. Didn't Marshall eat dinner with Self in Lawrence over the summer? Surely it can't be that bad if that is true. I mean, surely a KU coach has NEVER invited a KSU coach over for dinner..ever. Because it's KSU. Then we hired Turgeon. I mean seriously, if the two schools hate eachother THAT MUCH, we would of never hired Turgeon. KSU doesn't ever hire KU alums to coach there basketball teams at least.. So what gives?

It goes back to the days when we were working to become a state institution and we being blocked at every turn by Regents members and legislators with deep KU ties. It was before my time, but I know full well the bitterness of the whole thing was deep and permanent. Craig Miner's books on the history of WSU document it well.

IF you're in that situation again, at least ask when KU will be having a game at Intrust and let him know you're a Shocker fan. He probably just thought you were a k-state fan. :)

Good advice. I was honestly surprised as hell when he walked in. Everybody was. Two of my friends who aren't in college were both wanting me to go over there and get his autograph, just to see if I would not, just because I go to WSU. They actually found the entire situation interesting. They just know me as "Wichita State" because I always demand they turn it to the WSU games...

ADDED: KU & KSU have tried to thwart WSU at every turn ... OK, not at every turn but often. For 10+ years, KU and KSU fought successfully to keep MUW out of the state system. After 1965, they tried to damage academic programs (e.g. "joint" KU-WSU PhD in chemistry) or thwart WSU's attempts to improve academic programs (e.g. PhD programs in chemistry, math & psychology). KU is great at "accounting tricks" and other games.

On the other hand, I don't hate KU. I know some people there and they are OK. Same for KSU. What I love is when KU or KSU tries to act "superior" to other schools (in academic or athletic activities); it always backfires and people leave a KU or KSU event laughing at the "mickey mouse" behavior of KU or KSU. I've seen people from U. Texas, Texas A&M, Stanford, etc. quietly laughing at KU's antics.

I'm laughing for many reasons.
1. This thread screams "insecurity" by WSU fans.
2. KU & KSU don't need help making fools of themselves.
3. Anybody who starts a thread like this deserves what he/she gets; did you turn your brain off before posting??? :roll:

KU--That win was probably lucky and just an aberration!!!

WSU--Maybe 'Danny and his Miracles' thought the same thing along with LB until they arrived at 21st and Hillside" and also lost.

KU--Danny's team also beat the Sooners for a National Championship soon thereafter.

WSU---So why won't you play us?

KU---Too risky--we have nothing to gain taking such chances.

WSU--The fans and players from both teams would enjoy this though!!! Our Coach would love to play you as well.

KU---They don't have a choice.

WSU--Then you better just watch out in 2-3 years because if you get in our way at the Dance-----you are going down baby!!!!!!! Furthermore, I hope your nacho's are stale!!!

Marshall is going to eat with Self. Marshall knows very little about the past between our two institutions. He has however been carefully instructed by our administration to watch what he says about KU.

Even Turgeon was commenting in the paper the other day how when he coached at WSU how he only had a couple items in his basement that had anything to do with KU. And this is a guy that grew up loving the school, played there for 4 years, and was on the coaching staff when they won a national championship. That is how serious it is around here...

I know several professionals and big supporters that cancelled their Shocker season tickets immediately upon hearing that we hired a KU alum as coach.

This isn't about KU avoiding us on the hardwood, this is about many, many more things...

Now that you are wiser since contributing to this thread, pick up a copy of Miner's book and stop leading the life of a sinner.
