That makes sense Aargh. Maybe it's just that the cameras are too close to the court which makes it seem flat. Perhaps they just need to construct a camera nest in the rafters. It really drives me nuts though.

I only have a HS education and its been 35 years, but....increases in elevation of the camera platform will change the angle of the sight line because the focal point(playing floor) is extended away from the base of the angle. I don't remember or never new my algebra formulas!

That would require taking away a number of seats to put a camera man any place other than where he's at now. The camera angle isn't so bad as to justify taking away seats.

Agree, sort of. Because the court is not snug up against the bottom step in the seating, puttint the camera farther up the slope will change the angle to the court every so slightly. If the court were butted up against the first row (no space for the reporters tables, etc.) and
if indeed the slope of the steps above the current camera level is identical to the slope of the seats below the camera level, then the camera shot will appear the same.

We don't want to lose seats and we don't want to continue the rinky dink angle that I'm sure is unsettling to people used to watching national college basketball programs.

I believe the original Sky-Eye system was actually started by a Wichita gentleman who has a business in South Hutchinson. He sold the rights to the NFL (or I understand that they basically stole the rights from him) and now he sells overhead camera's for the medical field.

Watched a little of today's replay. Damn the crowd was loud. It seemed more constant on the broadcast than I remembered. I didn't mind the "camera angle" at all, fwiw.

I’m really looking forward to watching the replay tonight on my DVR. Well, that’s if my wife hasn’t recorded over it with one of her ‘Soaps’, ‘The Oprah Blowhard Show’ or ‘John & Kate Give Me a Headache’. We’ll be having a little ‘come to Jesus’ meeting at our house. I’ll sit her down and then she’ll remind me how much I’ve been screwing up lately.

That camera (which I hate) was originally used in the one season of the XFL. The NFL didn't start using it until after that.
