I might be imagining things, but it seems like Ellis doesn't have the quickest release in the world. Such a smooth, soft stroke, but not a quick release. Maybe he figures that paying attention to where he is on the floor in relation to the 3pt line will ad a few fractions of seconds that he can't afford to give away?

I would think that as his confidence improves (and it's happening rapidly), his shot might come quicker, and he'll be more sure to back up a foot and drain a 3 instead of a long 2.
The truth will set you free. But first, it will piss you off.

And that's why I say I hope he adjusts in the future. Understanding where you are on the court is part of the game and I hope he learns that. With his shot, a few more inches isn't going to hurt him.

I hope that's something he works on in the offseason and is corrected next year.

Doc recently made mention of a defensive, athletic lineup used in last game that seemed to slow the Redbirds. Toure', Kyles, JT, AE, and the Hawk. Hope to see some more of this versus Evansville.

Discussion after the previous games about Ellis scoring but his toes being just across the 3pt line; hence two pointers instead of 3's.

Well today he was 1 or 4 for the game and only 1-3 from behind the arc. Couldn't see the game, so can't comment on the quality, but would/will be interesting to see if he does better next game with fewer 3pt attempts and more inside the arc from mid-range.

I'm not sure what we can gleam from today's game really.

He had a couple of great hustle plays that IMHO we wouldn't have seen out of him last month.

Nobody shot well today. And he rushed at least one of those shots.

Durley gave us some good inside baskets in the 2nd half to help keep us in there.

There was a lot of grabbing inside but Durley was strong enough to not let it bother him. On one of the late game inside moves his defender had hold of his jersey and it was stretched out from the pull but he completed the shot anyway (no foul call :-x ). This game showed how much JT has matured. Physical game. Some bogus calls against him. Fouls by EU on him often not called but there was no pouting or getting down. He played hard on both ends every time he was in. Very good effort from the big guy.

He is certainly starting to get it. I don't think he played quite as hard tonight as he did against Creighton, but it was still a pretty high level of effort. It seems to me that he hasn't really been too worried about his offense, but just has been playing good defense and taking the offense that comes his way. That is a sign of maturation and is exactly what we need from him.

Ellis saved a crucial ball late in the game and got it back to Murry.. got to definitely give him credit for that.
