I hinted last year with the departure of Jim Schaus and his subsequent replacement that I was less than confident about the future of our program(s).

So far I am seeing a decline in halftime entertainment, the swallowing of a basketball promotion gleaned from our inbred, agricultural friends up north, and a few other things I won't mention.

How much losing can we endure before we stop the chartered flights for games and personal jets for recruiting. It would be a sad state to see milestones reached in Turdgeon's era toppled as we run backwards over them...

If this deal with GG doesn't work out (meaning we endure 2 or 3 more seasons of lackluster performance), will we be in a position to offer another coach what we offered GG in terms of total package?

I know, I'm meddling in very dark thoughts... but that is what 4-24 in Valley play against newb coaches and teams will do to you...

P.S.

I wonder what advice Jim would be giving to GG right now. I expect it would be the right words for the situation. I miss Jim. :cry:

As far as "black out" night is concerned, it's a tradition way older than K-State.

Every team has two colors, a primary and secondary. Fans wear the primary to every game, but one game a year wear the secondary.

Penn State has done the "white out" at football games for generations. Other teams have too. I'm surprised it's taken so long for it to come to WSU, but I'm glad it's here.

I've never paid attention to anything as inconsequential as K-State basketball to know that they did something similar, but it doesn't surprise me.

Honestly, there are reasons to be concerned but there are more reasons to be hopeful.


You are allowing the big picture to be swallowed whole by the little picture.


There are legitimate reasons to be concerned about a variety of things. The talent that has entered into the program and the additional talent coming in is vastly improved. If you cannot realize that, then there is nothing I can do.

Ohio's baseball team went 29-30 last year with no postseason. Ohio's football team just finished a 4-8 season. Ohio's basketball team is off to a 9-6 start and bringing in about 4,000 peeps a game.

That was what was important to Jim, so I am sure he is happy about his decision.

That's a good enough reason for me. I always have wished him all the best. I was speaking strictly from a job point-of-view though.

I really thought Butler lacked experience this year too. I guess I can use that excuse for now.
