Yes, we knew we were going to be young, and probably not a great team, but I did not expect this level of ineptitude and lack of effort. Our players are not that much more unathletic or individually less talented than our valley opponents, yet we are far and away the wost team in the league. I put the blame squarely on the coach. I could except losing as long as they were trying hard and improving and building towards the future. This kind of 'giving up' and losing the players will not be easy to overcome next year.
I here the Jayhawk Conference calling coach Marshall. Maybe Seward County needs an assistant.
Coach is a winner - he will get it turned around with or without a few players and bandwagoners. :wsu_posters:
Times like these are what separates the hardcore fans from those with less intestinal fortitude.
Now, what does that say about us hardcore fans? I guess we are gluttons for punishment..
As embarrasing as the effort was tonight, I still believe HCGM needs 3 years to right the ship. This is year 2. I agree with vancedave56--it will turn around. I just think we just all thought it would be a quicker turn around.
I truly thought this season would be an improvement over last year. While the season is far from over, I am afraid I may be very wrong. I hope not, but it's not looking pretty.
It's like there's just no team chemistry. Where's the fire? Where's the drive to improve?
Saturday will be interesting--or painful or both. I hope interesting, and sadly that may be the best we can expect right now.
I'd give everyone a letter indicating that their scholarship has been revoked and that the only way they can get it back is to meet 5 criteria of performance.
I like that letter. I would amend it to include the entire coaching staff as well. Five criteria of performance by the end of the season if you want your contract extended to next year.
How much do you want to bet that if the players and the coaches knew the extension of their contract/scholarship was on the line before they played SWOMO tonight, that you wouldn't see (or hear) the performance we just did?
The incentives are all messed up in this one and the results are clear. The coach knows he has time and the players are dying to get back to their Xboxes.
I understand the "next year" thing, but how many times do we have to say that in a ten or 15 year span?
We said it last year because we knew the situation we were getting into. We're saying it this year because it was obvious.. at least to some.. that we were/are a 9th place team, as predicted by everybody.
I don't quite get your post..

I'm starting to like the posts I am hearing. Now it's starting to sound like a capitulation.
When nearly everybody is about to go ballistic we should be at a bottom. Now, a basketball program is not a major stock index, so while we may have found the bottom, we may never leave it either.
One thing is for sure, it doesn't get much worse than this as far as a quality of product. The thing we don't know is how much longer we will have to endure it.

I don't think I've heard it many times this decade compared to last decade. My goodness.. what are your expectations of this team/program?
Deuces Valley.
... No really, deuces.
