I know it may be a result of my limited intellect, but I really can't see the harm in playing an in-state school in a two for one in light of the patsies I listed above, as well as even Washburn (I know, exhibition, but still).
Well like I've said before, KU plays every Div I and Div II school in the state, except for WSU so all the generic reasons for and against don't apply. Their reasons to not play WSU have to do with WSU, not anything else.
Hell, KU even plays (and does 1 and 1s) with UMKC.
Like those reasons or not or think those reasons are BS, I just get tired of hearing over and over how its not about WSU.
Chris
Apparently, as I said earlier, it's about Marshall right now:
Coach Self said himself that he will not ever play WSU, especially while Marshall is there. He said we weren't going to ever play your teams at Winthrop and we're certainly not going to play you as the coach of WSU.
And I quote...
"We'd probably lose".
He did invite Marshall and his family up for a weekend in KC with his family, but no basketball games.
Never happen. What is the upside for KU? They do not need the money. If they win they were supposed to win. If they lose, well, the horror, the horror. They will never play WSU except in the NCAA's.
That's not the reason. The same reasons are true of many of the schools KU plays. Those same reasons were also true during the 80s and 90s when KU played WSU 10 out of 11 years. During that period WSU had a much better chance of beating KU (and did one year).
There are specific reasons that KU won't play WSU and most of those have to do with WSU. WSU's behavior the last time they played was very bad.
Chris
So some mysterious bad behavior that happened fifteen years ago is the reason KU won't play WSU? Even though there is nobody from either of those staffs remotely connected to either school at this time, and both schools are at least two ADs removed from who was in charge back then? If it's WSU's fault, please enlighten us. I've heard the ridiculous demands like 3 for 1 thrown around here and elsewhere, which WSU would be right to reject. I know it may be a result of my limited intellect, but I really can't see the harm in playing an in-state school in a two for one in light of the patsies I listed above, as well as even Washburn (I know, exhibition, but still). This game would mean a lot to the people of Wichita, who provide a lot of the students and money for KU. Any hard feelings from fifteen or fifty years ago on both sides should be left in the past.
This guy needs to post more!!!!! :good:
Sidenote: Not good when KU is being talked about more than our team, 2 hours after the end of a game.
Do YOU want to talk about our team right now?
:good:

It's about KU not being treated like Royalty when they were here last

Size 24 type is exactly appropriate for this post. Very sorry to once again introduce reason into the discussion. I know how much you hate that.
If WSU played in Omaha and got pelted with stuff on the bench by fans and no one stopped it, somehow I think you'd be a little more upset.
I didn't realize only royalty got to a locker room before and after the game. I guess WSU must be royalty because I'm pretty sure they get a locker room on all their away games. Don't seem to remember many stories about them loading on the bus unshowered after road games for the 3 hour ride home.

If that is really the reason, that is weak schmidt.
I am not a KU fan, but I never think of them as such big puddies, but maybe I should reasess.
"WSU's behavior . . . was very bad" - Is KU a 4-year old child?

Do you have a source for this allegation that WSU refused to allow KU to shower?
K-State fans threw coins at Rex Walters and Steve Woodberry too.
