I am just asking. The last two games, things were going well early on,..then Coach substituted FOUR players at once, so we had four starters on the bench and things went south...Anybody else notice this? what is the logic behind it?

The logic behind it is that the game never stopped and these substitutions were made later than he wanted. I noticed that, but I also noticed they weren't all sent to the table at the same time. Against UNI we went a long time without a whistle and it just happened that 4 subs had been sent there over the previous 3 or 4 minutes the clock had been running.Infinity Art Glass - Fantastic local artist and Shocker fan

Add to those reasons an occasional need to adjust a matchup and that about sums it up. It's pretty hard to second guess substitutions without being courtside and as close to the action as the coach. Even so, I have to admit I am one that prefers more limited substitutions and more of a reliance on your primary "horses" although I think one of the issues for Gregg is determining who the "horses" are on a given night. Hopefully ... sooner than later ... particular players will begin to differentiate themselves enough that there is no question who should be receiving the playing time ... not just as a starter but also as the first off the bench.

I know ... rationale discourse is boring. It's far more interesting to read all the emotional, reactionary posts. I'm just trying to keep emotions in check this season but after tonight's performance ... well ... I don't use deleted expletives but wish I did sometimes. That was pretty hard to watch. Hope some "glass half full" person will put a positive spin on things.
