  • How can the Shocks turn things around?

After watching the UNI game and reading what's been written and remembering the look of frustration on not only the player's faces but on HCM's face what can the Shockers do to turn things around?
I was fortunate enough to go to Orlando to watch the Shocks play in the Old Spice Classic tournament. Even though they lost 2 games they played with enthusiasm and energy they rarely let up! After the Georgetown game we were talking to some fans from other schools and they agreed that the Georgetown WSU game was one of the best they had seen in the tournament! One guy even said, he was going to follow the Shox's progress this year! The team represented themselves well and played as a team! I know they're are young and they are going to have their ups and downs but sometimes I think they get down on themselves too easily. We know they have talent and I believe they have heart and good team chemistry but I think sometimes they let themselves down by not putting their rally caps on and encouraging each other to toughen up and get the job done. They must come out every night and every half ready to play until times up! When somebody lets down the rest of the team needs to hold that person accountable. Teams who play with heart and that "never say die" attitude always come out winners! :posterwu: :goshocks:

we need defence of course in the form of aaron and j.t. Our dreadful shooting form is the question and simply taking better shot is key to our success in our conference table.

Some players respond very well to getting chewed in front of a whole arena full of fans..others not so well. I don't think it is all in the players hands right now. Sometimes all the negativity really gets to you and seriously makes a difference in your game. I know any of you that have played a competitive sport know what Im talking about. You can only get shot down so many times before it changes your game.

I think it's a big dose of these 2 things.

1)We need a ton of confidence and to play with confidence. We are scared of failing right now and that is a recipe for certain failure.

2)Everyone needs to know their role. JT no more 3s. Ramon, nothing wrong with 14 boards and 2 points, seriously. Embrace what you excel at. Toure, let the game come to you. We all know you are going to be a stud. Clevin, create and shoot. Don't be afraid. If you hit three you better be doing everything possible to find the 4th....etc etc.

The team that has played the last few games is completely different from the team that played in Orlando. We need that OSC team back before it is too late. That team could play with any team in the Valley and win many nights.

Start Reggie from Plano or at least play him on the second line.

I agree. At least give him a shot in a game.

RDR, introduce yourself to Reggie sometime. I have a pretty good idea of the type of person that would impress you.

I'm not convinced of team chemistry. The video that's on the thread about offense shows something missing. 3 guys could see a defender had fallen down and Griskenas didn't have anybody within 10 feet of him. Hatch had the ball and was dribbling away and didn't see it. Not one of 3 guys let Hatch know Gris was wide open. Amother time there was a defensive lapse in transition that was blamed on lack of communication by both Kennedy in game and Marshall after the game.

I'm also starting to think we have the basketball equivalent of Stephenson in how Marshall handles players. It's been said many times that the Jr and Sr baseball players are regularly giving the Fr and So baseball players support and reminding them that's just the way Gene is and not to let it get in their heads. We don't have any players who have been around Marshall long enough to provide that support to the first and second-year players.

The team is playing like there's nothing but first and second-year players on the team. Oh, wait! That's all there is.
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.

Do you think they worked on offense & passing?

While I have never met him, I have a pretty good idea about his character. I watched his play quite a few times last summer. I could tell he is of the right stuff.

I would like to meet him.
