I'm an official, and try to give them a benefit of doubt, but tonight's officiating performance was a total disgrace.
What do you expect when your coach has pissed off everyone in the conference? Do you honestly think you will get the calls. He called out Altman the other night, he's been kicked out of the Valley tournament, and has had a spat with Holtus.
And now he is reading the Eagle to his players. Scary when a coach is worried about what Lutz and Sully are writing.

    • Terrible officiating. Murry gets called for a foul while shooting and no body contact??????????

      • Stop blaming the officials. Our lack of talent, basketball IQ, and coaching cost us this game.

        • Mulligan, I just want to know if you are a fan expressing frustration or an outsider trying to rub it in. If you are the latter you have a personality disorder.

          • As I stated in my initial post mulligan, I realize we played like crap. Our performance in the 2nd half was absolutely dismal. Officiating did not cost us the game nor effect the outcome.

Many people on this board respect me, but I will understand if you don't. I just tell it like it is.

                • Why are others allowed to be negative and some aren't?

Or does it sting too much to know that the 'some' ended up being right about a few things.. ?
                  Deuces Valley.
                  ... No really, deuces.

                  • I would just like to think that the Missouri Valley Conference would attempt to establish consistency with its officials, so that its teams are better prepared for postseason play (obviously not us) and therefore climb the ladder in the battle of conferences.

As long as the game is between two of the "Lesser" members of the league, the officials are going to be on the "Lesser" side too. These guys ref in the Big 10, Summit, Big South, C-USA, and piddly ass D2 leagues as well.

Die hard Black and Gold. I saw Ozell Jones almost shoot a free throw over the Back Board. Keep in mind my dad told me this was not how you are suppossed to shoot free throws. And I witnessed Paul Wright break finger on the back board during warm ups. You know the Big Show, Ashockalypse. So I have sat through many seasons of the same kind of basketball you are now witnessing.

I'm pretty confident this game film will end up in the Valley offices with some comments from the WSU Athletic Department.
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.
We like to cut down nets and get sized for championship rings.

                            • I didn't read through this entire thread but I can imagine. BTW: The refs were terrible.

This will now be a test of Gregg Marshall's coaching ability. He has opportunities here.
                              1. This is a "teaching moment" for Garrett Stutz. He was terrible in terms of dealing with a quick double team. If GM knows how to teach, I think GS is prepared to learn how to deal with double teams and this will help us over the next three years.
                              2. The team in general needs to learn how to deal with double teams by finding the open man and passing quickly.
                              3. Our perimeter defense was often soft. Marshall could use this game as a teaching moment.
                              4. Over the summer, WSU needs to offer a course called "Basketball IQ" and every Shocker player should take it. Half the class should consist of watching and discussing "film" (video, etc.) of basketball games.
Some posts are not visible to me. :peaceful:
Don't worry too much about it. Just do all you can do and let the rough end drag.

                              • My 3 favorite teams to watch are the Royals, Chiefs, & the Shockers. Things are not looking very good right now for any of these teams. Does anyone know of a good shrink around here?
