It was changed this year to be a P.O.E. for officials to consider players underneath the basket to have established a legal guarding position. Therefore, a charge by an offender is considered a foul and should be called. 8)

So in college if the defender is under the basket you can still have an offensive foul but the shot will count if it goes? Even if the contact was before the release?

Did college actually have the NBA rule of being too far under the basket? I know HS doesn't. A charge is a charge no matter how far under the goal the defender is.

You can have an offensive foul (push) if the ball has left the shooters hand and then contact occurs. If the ball goes in, it is counted as a made basket.
The reason it is an offensive foul versus a PC is due to lack of control once the ball leaves the shooters hand.
If the ball has not left the shooters hand before the contact, it is a PC.
If the shooter releases the ball and then makes contact to a defender who has established a legal guarding position (and yes, under the basket is now consider legal) and the shot goes in, the offending team will shoot FT's if they are in the bonus. 8)

So the calling official just blew it. There's no way the ball was out before contact. That clears it up for me. Thanks.

Nah, I said 6th, but I changed it after the Creighton game if memory serves me correctly. It's beyond the point of getting angry and frustrated, our performance is actually comical now and you just gotta laugh now.

I have to keep reminding myself that last year I was thinking this year would be our true rebuilding year. It's just hard when you see some great play, then you see (or hear, in my case) stuff like this.
I think I liked losing tight games better than this, though.

Actually it sounds a lot like HS now. Except any foul on the offense cancels any basket. I know the Federation has been trying to make things a little more like the college game the past few years.

It is a judgment call, no question about it. I am not watching the game, so I'll go on your word.
Keep this mind, an offensive player can not score if they commit a foul while in control of the ball. 8)
