  • Is this still one of the most athletic moves by a Shocker?

1983 He went for 47 in this game (his final home game) the man who ate glass for breakfast grabbed his 400th rebound that season. The Shockers beat SIU 109 to 85.

It still amazes me everytime I see that play. What do you think?

    WOW

Thanks 96!!!!!!! A dunk with an exclaimation point!!!!! A. Carr use to bring me out of my seat when he was going for the slam. He had some serious ups. Does anybody have the 360 dunk he did to pipe in here? He was poetry in motion!!!!!!! I was there the night he broke the Shocker scoring record for a single game. It was so very cool!!!!!!!
Shocker basketball will forever be my favorite team in all of sports.

That's a dunk/move GS needs to incorporate into his arsenal.

Do you have Antoine's coast to coast against Bruce Vanley and Tulsa his senior year? That was his best ever, in my opinion?
Because Denny Crane says so Dammit!

The Battle of New Orleans highlights would be awesome. When Mike Jones released that first 25 footer, FSF yells at the tube------NoooooYesssssss as it swished. Then when he did again for the win, it was immense Shocker History and pure ectasy. If I recall, there was no 3 point shot in College basketball incorporated yet. A copy of this whole game as well as other great wins of the past would be great for Shocker fans to see. Even highlight clips of the Stallworth, Warren Armstong, X-Man, etc. days would be invaluable. The younger folk on here would also enjoy seeing some of the games and players we speak of from our Shocker past.

Someone needs to show this clip to current players so that they can see just how the game was played 25 years ago and still should be today!

I wish the athletic department would put together a highlight reel DVD with clips like this and others. Definitely would create revenue for future construction projects, scholarships, etc.

Great link '96. That was a fun team to watch - brings back memories. That team had no problem finding its "killer instinct".

Loved watching AC play and distinctly remember Randy Smithson commenting as a radio or tv analyst that Carr was "a man among boys" during his senior season. Speaking of that though, I also remember watching him as a freshman, drooling over his athletisicm and skill ... and ... frequently shaking my head at the silly mistakes he made. The point ... don't have expectations that are too high for this years freshman.

A little off topic, but I heard a question about past game films being available on the pre-game call-in show. Mike said that the athletic department doesn't have them, but when I was around there, there was a whole bunch of old tapes in a storage room across from the men's basketball offices. I know that the Battle of New Orleans and the LSU games were both in there. They may not be anymore, but once upon a time (2000-01) they were.

If someone really wants a copy of that game against KU badly, I'm sure you could try to contact Randy Smithson. He surely has a copy of that game.

NCAA does have DVD you can buy.

The KU-WSU game is on their list as a pre-order. I assume they don't make them until their is enough of a demand to make it worth their while.

Baseball video are also available, again the games that most would want are still pre-order.
