"Did those guys ever get 18k for a home game?" (from the blog)

Hahahahahahaha yes, our 20,000+ downtown arena that we play in is always halfway empty. If you're going to criticize a fan-base, or attendance, at least know what you're talking about. Duke only averages 9,000 a game...their fan-base must really blow.

I like this quote "Look - Gregg Marshall is not liked in the MVC. Period. I've spoken with numerous people who work with and around the Valley and it's a badly kept secret that he doesn't have any friends with the power people in St. Louis. "

Hell, what new. WSU is pretty much despised in this conference for any sport and none of the programs have any friends with the little people in St. Louie. Screw'em all.
Exactly. You think the baseball staff is "well liked"? Doesn't seem to hurt the baseball team any. Heck I went on a cruise recently and rain into a MVC umpire who saw me in my Shocker gear. He came up to me and said, "Shocker fan huh? Worst fans in the Valley.....but you guys do at least support your team." Went on to say how he doesn't have a huge problem with Stephenson, but did mention that he's had his rounds with Kemnitz on more than 1 occassion. His wife even got involved in the conversation and said she hates going to games the Shockers are playing because..."Shocker fans are soooo mean". After our conversation he did finish by saying..."I don't like WSU fans, but you gotta respect their enthusiasm and loyalty."

meh, I'm starting to like being "hated". Like you said...screw em.

Oh yeah and my last words were..."No, Creighton has the worst fans." As he walked away he said..."They are a VERY close 2nd"
"He called me around noon and was thrilled," Brandt said. "He said he was going to be a Shocker forever." -- RIP Guy, you WILL indeed be a Shocker forever!

Yep we defend our hated coach any day, and our arena actually gets loud and we hold 7000 less. I guess that mean our fan base has more enthusiasm than the Creighton chumps

            Paranoia officially settles in.

I don't think I've ever seen a media member get wrapped up in internet message boards as he has and then to go one step further and write on and on about it in his 'blog'.

Thin-skinned nerd can dish it, but he sureeeeeeeee can't take it!
            Deuces Valley.
            ... No really, deuces.

How stupid we must be for not cramming 18,000 into our 10,000 seater..

Yeah it's pretty funny really. And this guy is so clueless, when he sees the post about Shocker fans calling Les Eck about his advertising dollars he would probably say something along the lines of:

"And go ahead and call Eck about what I'm saying on my radio show. I mean, the business might be based out of Wichita but that doesn't mean they would care what I have to say about a WSU coach on my radio show. They just want their name played over the air for advertising....really, what would Les Eck care"

And all the while he would look even dumber not realizing the money the Eck family have pumped into Wichita State...heck...ever hear of Eck Stadium? LOL But I promise he's so clueless and does ZERO homework that he would say something like that. Of course now he'll read this post, so I guess I probably just helped him avoid looking like a bigger douche....oh well.

Does this douche even try to be Profession on his own radio show? I think even Jim Rome would be disgusted

Sorry to bring this to the table. Talking about Rusty Eck
Ford being the sponsor of his show, Do any of you know what Rusty was when he was alive? I would rather not say but he was not a good person at all. If the shoe fits...... Plus you know this guy is no good because his name doesnt have 11 letters in it, he has 12!!! :yahoo:

Smithson, the first, got to an Elite Eight and a legitimate top-5 national ranking. Smithson isn't even the best coach in WSU history.

I guess it's possible to write off when Phog Allen and Hank Iba coached in the Valley. I can believe the ignorance of sportswriters. They're paid to create controversy and get readers and hits on their web postings.

I don't remember the names of some coaches in the Valley. The guy who took Indiana State to a one-defeat season and a NC game comes to mind in that category.

Comparing Altman to Ralph Miller, Gene Smithson, Phog Allen, Hank Iba is ludicrous. Comparing Gene Smithson to those guys is ludicrous. Drake and Bradley had some pretty salty coaches in the MVC's history. Maybe the guy who recruited and coached Oscar Robertson should get some credit. Tulsa had some great coaches and great results that Altman hasn't achieved.

Altman has a grand total of 2 wins in the NCAA's in something like 15 years. That is so pale compared to some of the coaches who have coached Valley teams.

Soooey! Pig! Pig! Pig! Altman is at CU because he got fired from Kansas State and couldn't get along with the administration at Arkansas.

Even during Altman's tenure at CU - Alford, Les, Lowery (twice), and Turgeon have won as many NCAA games in a single season as Altman has won in his career.
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.
We like to cut down nets and get sized for championship rings.
