I really hope he gets to go to big man camp this summer. There is a lot to like about him:
1. He has soft hands for a big man who is a freshman.
2. He has instincts to go toward the basket to score
3. He is tall, and you cannot coach tall.
He also has some isssues which, I think, are obvious:
1. He has the freshman softness in going strong to the basket.
2. You can see the thought process as he gets the ball on a pass insidce and then thinks " How do I go to the hoop to score?" rather than a learned, instinctive, immediate move to the hoop. This gives the defense time to sag in on him from the weakside.
3. He is not strong on boxing out and going for rebounds.
4. He needs to work on his immediate pass outside as the defense sags in on him.
The really good news is that all of the faults I see will be cured by coaching and experience. In some ways e reminds me of Sasha Kaun except he has much more experience, better hands and a bigger upside, The next few years will be so much fun to see his improvement.
