What a crazy first day so far. Mild upsets and surprisingly difficult victories (ISU over MSU in OT).

Maybe we can maintain the insanity tonight!

Had front row seats at the MSU v Ill SU game today. MSU's best player (Cooks) out with a concussion but Spencer Laurie's first game back from a concussion. Redbirds came out flat and Da Bears played well in the first half. The Bears led at half and early in the second half stretched their lead to 15 before the Birds turned up the defense and went on a 22-2 (i think) run midway thru the 2nd half. Close game at the end and Creekmore thru up a prayer at the buzzer that went in to send it to overtime. Most don't think it should have counted but it did. Redbirds won it in OT and thanks to a couple of other bear prayers down the stretch it looked close.

Birds are definitley athletic. Sampay looked lazy in the first half and a beast in the second. Oguchi is a stud. He didn't have a great game today but he's a heck of an athlete. Neither of MSU center's are very athletic but in the 1st half, they had no trouble posting up on Sampay and the other center.

FWIW, the ref's were a bunch of Homers. The foul situation was totally
out of whack, the last shot in regulation should not have counted, and they added time to the clock at the end of regulation. All of that went MSU's way.

7000 + at the game today. JQH is a very nice place but not intimidating like Koch. Not a lot of noise (less than 100 students)

I think this is a wake up call for the bird's. They won't go undefeated...that's a joke. This is the 3rd game I've seen MSU play and by far their best. I still don't think that they will be a top 5 team but IMO the valley is wide open.

I was asked if I could include Winthrop's scores as well as they are Marshall's "old team". They are now 1-10 after getting demolished against Florida tonight.

Georgetown hands No. 2 Connecticut 1st loss

Georgetown shows how you're supposed to make 3-pointers and free throws.

The Hoyas opened the game on an 18-3 run by hitting four of their first five 3-point attempts, then held off Connecticut by making 18 straight free throws in the second half to finish 18-for-21 from the line.
