    • Just back from the game. It was an ugly game. Shox just did not look as good today as yesterday imo. Not alot to cheer about in the first half and seems like we had a heck of a time with their pressure all day. I don't know what it looked like on TV but in person the passes to break the press looked like they were soft. Coach told one player "you look scared" and sat him for a while. AJ is playing like he is looking over his shoulder because it seems like he is tentative and afraid of making a mistake rather than just getting after it. At 10 mins left in the game we were 10 down and I did not like our chances at that point. For some reason their guards looked like they tried to dictate the game instead of pushing it inside. I hope it was due to what looked like better D inside. We were definitlely more intense the last 10 minutes. Hannahs drive to the baseline with time running out and getting the foul seemed to give fuel to the fire at the end. All in all we played well for 10 minutes (sustained) and were able to win. The Sienna crowd was quiet the whole game like they were attending a funeral. NEVER got to their feet once the entire game. I don't think anyone sat down the entire last 10 minutes for the shox. Go Shox!

        • Going into this tournament, I was concerned that GT would blow us out and that losing all three games just might be a disaster for the morale of our young players.

But staying close to GT and beating Siena have got to be character builders for the rest of the season no matter what we do Sunday.

The first two games may have been ugly, but the Shocks hung in there and did themselves proud.

Now let's see if they can come out with a vengence on Sunday.

After all that really good analysis, which I agree with, I hate to just bring this up..

but when has AJ been 'on'?
I know AJ hasn't been the offensive presence we've all wanted and hoped for this year. But he's been fine on the defensive end. He's tied for leading the team in blocks this season so far with JT, he's leading the team in steals, hell, even on the offensive end he's third on the team for assists and rebounds, and second with offensive rebounds. I know it's not the points that we've been hoping for but that's not too bad production if you ask me. Anyways, lets just enjoy the win :wsu_posters:  :yahoo:

                • Rebounding

I went back & read the last 2-3 pages of this thread. I see various comments about various good or bad stats the Shocks had today but nothing about their rebounding! Where are you folks? The Shocks are leading the valley in rebounding & they just out rebounded their 1st 2 opponents in the Old Spice Classic. That makes up somewhat for some poor shooting at times at the turnover issue as well. The Shocks are doing especially well on the offensive boards!

Some locals watching the GU TU game paid WSU some very ncie compliments. Specificaly how many fans traveled and how into the game the fans are. We told him we lost 20 games last year and he was more impressed.

Siena was out-rebounded by Wichita State, 37 to 24. The Shockers make up for their poor shooting with rebounding, which is why the Saints made keeping them off the glass a point of emphasis.

                      It didn’t work.

“The thing that was disappointing for us was their ability to get on the glass,” Siena coach Fran McCaffery said. “It seemed like whenever they needed a big second shot they got one.”

Sophomore forward Ryan Rossiter, who had registered a double-double in his previous two games, finished with only two rebounds and six points.

“It was one of our priorities, but we didn’t do a very good job of that today,” Rossiter said. “They’re not real big, but they’re just relentless on the boards.”

“The rebellion on the populist right against the results of the 2020 election was partly a cynical, knowing effort by political operators and their hype men in the media to steal an election or at least get rich trying. But it was also the tragic consequence of the informational malnourishment so badly afflicting the nation. ... Americans gorge themselves daily on empty informational calories, indulging their sugar fixes of self-affirming half-truths and even outright lies.'
