Biggest lesson I learned from the G-Town game

Don't be afraid to schedule a Big East team.

The Shockers seem to do pretty well against most of them. Only a few exceptions that I could remember.......Syracuse with Rony Seikaly comes to mind.

A Fogler NCAA team lost to St. John's in the first round, but it took an unlikely last second shot by Marco Baldi (?) to beat us.

But the Shockers seem to do pretty well in general vs. Big East schools.

I think they do well because they are allowed to play aggressive Bball with the refs allowing a very physical style of play. The Valley is physical and prepares their teams for this type of game. When the refs call ticky tac fouls is when we seem to fall apart.

I agree with KC, when we play smash mouth basketball, we can battle with anyone (thank you Mr. Rosenboom).
I thought our team gained a lot of confidence today and proved that they "could" be a force in the Valley.
That 9 point spot we gave them to start the game came back to bite us. But we matured today and didn't quit.

I learned that Stutz has great upside, but got worked today by a more athletic, faster, quicker 6'11 guy. Damn I wish he could have redshirted.

Learned that the disparity between a nationally ranked team and a team struggling to hit the upper division of the MVC is surprisingly small.

Monroe is a one-and-done lottery pick. Had not seen him before, he's gonna be great.

Stutz will have several big games this year depending on matchups. Because of his solid work ethic, he will just keep getting better.

Even Paul Miller didn't match up well some games during his SR year. Garrett will be great some games and disappear in others. The ratio will improve as he ages. I too wish he could have RS but we need him too bad right now.

I think this Garrett starting and JT coming off the bench is actually working well. I think it has lit a fire that showed in the past 2 games.
