That's what concerns me the most. What will we do with teams like UMKC that we don't have a lot of extra motivation with?
Lumps are lumps yes.
I'm sorry, but UMKC is inexcusable. We should be able to own those guys with our cheerleaders.
Just don't make excuses for this one. ANY game but a home game to UMKC.Deuces Valley.
... No really, deuces.

The basketball season is looking bleak, our baseball team is so damn young and with key injuries that I'm not looking forward to that, and our volleyball team will prove all the critics right and get eliminated in the first round of the tourney.
(Unless, of course, they shoot <50% from the free throw line with any regularity, in which case there may be a run on Zantac. You can work hard and you can get better, but if you miss that many FTs, it's going to cost you, plain and simple.)

Losing to the Roos back-to-back is downright disgusting. New coach, a roster of mostly freshman and sophomores (just as young as us), no athletic budget to speak of, they don't even have an arena to call their own, don't they lease out Municipal Auditorium downtown to play their home games?
They are lucky if they get 5K to a home game, we sell out every year and we still get dominated. And with tonight's loss we have an RPI of 276. Here's to looking up to maybe 199?

The Shox played quite poorly last night in just about every aspect. Why we stopped even looking inside in the 2nd half absolutely baffled me. The guards started taking quick, contested shots and it made me sick.
And to think, as poorly as I felt the Shox played, if they could have just made FTs they win. For a team that never shoots under 75% in practice they've been an embarrassment in front of the crowd.
Hannah made a lot of poor decisions tonight and it didn't surprise me not to see him playing much at all down the stretch.Infinity Art Glass - Fantastic local artist and Shocker fan

1. Reggie C. will get more minutes. Others have criticized Reggie's play, but I thought the offense ran smoother with Reggie in the game. I know about these things because I played church ball.
2. Stutz will get more minutes.
3. I sit on the NE corner, row 8. It looked like to me that Stutz had all ball. I did not see a slap on the arm at all. Besides, the calling ref sure had a bad sight line to make the call. However, the call did not cause the loss. It just came at a time, when stops were precious and the Shockers did not get one.
4. I could have sworn that Randy Burns had been reincarnated into Clevin Hannah's body. The only difference was location, location, location. Randy liked to go right. Clevin drove the paint, home of the big trees.
5. Reggie C. did not seem as intimidated by #24 as Clevin was.
6. I am not sure, but it seemed a defender got a finger tip on Reggie's 3 ball with just seconds on the clock.
7. Whispers may have been confirmed that A.J. is not a very good outside shooter. We will have to wait and see.
8. We gave up on post play.
9. Even thought Clevin is listed at 5-11, he seems shorter. His weight is listed at 155#.
10. #### shots look great, when they go in. The crowd goes wild. When they don't go in, they look like ####. The crowd moans.
11. I hope someone can explain the mob scene to me that took place at the south end with about two minutes to play. AJ drove and missed. Ramon got the rebound. Ramon was staggering. He tried a shot. It seemed players from both teams were in a vertical, dog pile. No foul called.
What happened?
12. I felt very badly for Garrett on the missed free throw. It rimmed out. The Wichita Eagle was unkind in describing the miss. The shot was not a brick.

Not sure what happened with Hannah, he was certainly superior to Reggie in the game prior. Hatch played excellent defense in the FAM game and got used up in this one. Durley is just not gonna help out, dunno if he can't, won't, or doesn't want to. Ellis has played much better, and perhaps he will again.

Reports were that Hannah runs hot and cold on shots, we seen him in one game hot, and last night cold. He seemed to lose his focus some towards the end of the game.
The inside passes to Stutz usually involved Murry in the setup for it.
Reggie needs to look to work it inside a little more before shooting.
Usually there is a fairly big upside from a player going from a Freshman to a Sophmore, they usually develop quite a bit. So far this season, Ellis still looks like a freshman. He has potential, and it should be developing NOW.
Ellis is not picking up on playing the 4 as opposed to the 3 very well.
If Ellis doesn't raise his game, he will be watching Griskenas play in his place.
We did not look to get Hatch any 3 shots last night, and it showed.
Kyles, when he is not making a move, doesn't look very comfortable on the court. But he has the speed and moves to make.
I thought the pressure defense was good, like to see more of it, but it should have started 2-3 minutes sooner.
Clemente is the only Shocker out there that looks like he wants to win, and plays like it. He is giving his all.
If we get any lower than 5th this year, don't expect great things next year.
Winners don't wait to win, they just go out and win.

Here are the 2 glaring weaknesses I saw in last nights game.. defense and free throw shooting. Time and time again I saw UMKC getting an easy lane to the basket. This starts with the guards. The guards have to fill the passing lanes and get in front of guys that try cutting to the basket. This did not happen last night. I saw a lot of lazy guys in white uniforms letting their man get by like nothing. This is unacceptable, and I hope the guys do some major running today to get this cleaned up. Second, free throws. There's no excuse for shooting less than 50% from the line in any game. This has to be a mental thing that coach Marshall can clear up by bringing out the psychology books. This team showed no mental toughness at all last night, and it showed. Physically, this team has the ability to compete with any team in the conference, and even a lot of teams outside of the conference. Mentally.. if they don't get tough, and get tough soon, it could be a long season. From what I saw last night, if we don't lose to G-Town by double digits, I'll be shocked.

I don't see "it" with Hannah. He does not see the floor well and looks for his shot first, second and last. He will prove me wrong once he passes a ball without dribbling it for three seconds. I think the shockers will struggle until they get a point guard who can both shoot and pass the ball a bit.
